Yasaka Mark V M2
Rubber description:
This is a classic pimple-in rubber that functions as an evolution of the traditional Mark V. It retains the familiar consistency and tactile feedback of its predecessor while providing a noticeable boost in springiness and overall velocity. Designed for an all-round offensive game, it offers a predictable performance profile that avoids the erratic bounce often associated with modern high-tension rubbers.
Playing Characteristics
- Speed and Spin: The rubber produces faster, more aggressive shots compared to the original Mark V, making it well-suited for smashes and loops. While it generates significant spin, players should be prepared to exert effort on serves to achieve maximum rotation.
- Feel and Dwell: The sponge is characterized by its soft composition, which provides good ball feedback during touch shots and the short game. The rubber features a medium-low throw angle, facilitating controlled offensive play.
- Control and Versatility: It offers high levels of consistency, making it reliable for table-flick maneuvers and controlled loops. It is notably effective for players who prioritize accuracy and predictable ball placement over extreme, uncontrolled speed.
- Usage Notes: It is not recommended for defensive chopping, as it lacks the necessary properties for that style. The top sheet is sensitive to physical impact and can be prone to chipping if handled roughly. It performs optimally on medium-to-fast blades.

This rubber is a bit deceptive. It’s not incredibly fast, but it’s plenty quick enough for most players. I’ve found that it has more spin than people give it credit for. It’s similar to regular Mark V, but with a faster speed. Loops well on medium to fast blades with a medium-low throw. For an allround-offensive game, it offers excellent control compared to some tensors, earning it a 5-star rating.
The overall quality of the top sheet and sponge is superb. It’s fast enough to end points quickly and provides great spin on loops and short game shots. It’s the ideal rubber for players who dislike the high bounce of tensors and value control. It’s also a great option for less experienced players and older players who just want to keep the ball in play.
