Blade description:

The Donic Epox PowerAllround is a well-crafted table tennis blade designed for all-around play and offers a blend of power and control. Ideal for intermediate to advanced players, this blade shines in diverse playing styles, catering to both aggressive and defensive strokes. With a weight of 85g and a composition of 5 plys infused with epoxy resin, the blade ensures durability while providing a solid, rigid feel that promotes quick responses during fast-paced rallies.

This blade is characterized by its medium thickness that strikes a balance between speed and control, registering a speed rating of 8 and control rating of 8 on the performance scale. The combination of stiffness at 6.6 and hardness at 6.5 facilitates powerful strokes while allowing players to execute precise blocking and looping techniques. Although some users note its slightly slower pace, the power that the epoxy material imbues can come into play during optimized powerful strokes, maintaining gameplay fluidity.

The Donic Epox PowerAllround’s flexible nature lends itself well to various playing styles, though it does require the user to adapt if they lean heavily towards spin-oriented play. As a recommendation for those exploring alternatives, players might consider models within the Donic range or other brands that offer a balance of control and power at similar price points. Overall, this blade is particularly suited for amateurs and all-around players seeking dependable performance and comfort without compromising on quality, making it a solid, well-rounded choice in the competitive table tennis landscape.

A good blade, I used soft rubbers on it, and it has a good first attack. Any shot after this requires a closed racket. The feeling is slightly mushy and this is not a fast blade. This is an all+ blade that is high quality for a good price.

After a longer break, I started playing again recently and tried out a lot of material. Finally, I found an experienced elderly gentleman in my new club who said the magic words after he watched my playing for a while: go for control and spin. He recommended this fine blade. And as I like it light, I got one with only 81g. Compared with Nittaku C1 on both sides, it serves my all-round game very well. Loops, counters, pushes, hard shots - everything works fine. And what I like most is its blocking skills because of its stiffness. Also important for me is that it’s well balanced and not head-heavy, and I do like the long, relatively big handle. So if you’re on the all-around side of the game, give it a try.

I have been using this blade for a year, paired with Donic Coppa X2 on the forehand and Donic Coppa X3 on the backhand. Overall, it’s a visually appealing and decent blade for its price of 30 euros. I recommend it for all-around players who prioritize precise smashes and rely on blocks for defense.

However, I would not advise serious competitive players with well-developed techniques and versatile strokes to opt for this blade. Its shortcomings become evident in such scenarios despite its positive attributes. It lacks adequate speed, even for non-professional attackers, requiring additional effort for powerful smashes.

On the other hand, it offers commendable control. Its stiffness and low throw angle make it less suitable for spin-oriented players. Nevertheless, this blade remains an excellent choice for amateurs familiar with the fundamental strokes. Some minor adjustments may be necessary for optimal performance.
