Nittaku Latika Carbon
Blade description:
This blade is a composite model featuring a 5+2 construction with FE-Carbon fibers placed closer to the core. It is designed to bridge the gap between the feel of a traditional all-wood blade and the power associated with composite blades. While it provides substantial speed during aggressive strokes, it remains non-bouncy and manageable during delicate play, offering a high level of control and accuracy in shot placement.
Playing Characteristics
- Feel and Feedback: The blade offers a unique, subtle vibration and a wood-like touch that provides excellent feedback for the player. It is frequently noted for having a higher dwell time than popular outer-carbon alternatives like Viscaria, allowing for consistent spin generation and confident looping.
- Performance: It functions as a versatile offensive tool with a wide range of gears. It is highly regarded for its directional accuracy and stability during blocking. The blade features a large sweet spot, ensuring consistent performance even on off-center hits.
- Construction and Weight: The blade is noted for its thin profile—approximately 5.5mm—and typically excellent weight distribution, which aids in maneuverability. Depending on the individual unit, it generally falls within a standard weight range, though ultralight versions exist.
- Rubber Pairing: The blade performs well with medium-hard rubbers, particularly when seeking a balance between high spin potential and speed. Because it utilizes internal fiber placement, it may feel slightly slower during initial contact when paired with tacky Chinese-style rubbers, but it rewards the user with high reliability and landing percentage.

Non è il più veloce, non è il più elastico ma è semplicemente il migliore.

I don’t have much to compare to, just an old Stiga caliber wood (can’t even find the specs on that). To me, it feels quite a bit harder, and when I really crank a backhand flick, it shoots 30% faster than the Stiga. If I land it (still practicing), it does not come back against 1800-level players. The trade-off is less dwell time. The soft kind of feel that makes you think you are catching and throwing the ball back, that I get from the Stiga. It also feels like it has a larger “sweet spot”. If this means the area where you can hit, and the ball still responds in a lively fashion. All told, I am getting used to it and finding my game overall faster than the Stiga.

This blade isn’t just beautiful. Incredibly good control, I’ve had many expensive blades, but the weight distribution is by far the best. No unpredictable catapult effect, fast, but not crazy fast. For those using Timo Boll ALC and Viscaria, this Nittaku blade won’t be fast enough for them, or just much more controllable. I’m not sure, but very easy to play with this Nittaku.
