Stiga Optimum Seven

Blade description:

The Stiga Optimum 7 is an all-wood blade designed for aggressive, offensive styles of play. It is characterized by its notable speed and a distinct, pronounced vibration during contact. Due to its responsive nature and the requirement for precise, technically sound strokes, it is best suited for experienced players rather than beginners.

Playing Characteristics

  • Feel and Feedback: The blade provides significant vibration, offering direct tactile feedback that allows users to feel the ball clearly. This vibration profile requires the player to maintain consistent and accurate stroke mechanics, as the blade reacts sensitively to incoming spin.
  • Speed and Control: Built for an attacking game, the blade offers high speed. While experienced players can leverage this for offensive loops and aggressive shots, the blade is less forgiving for defensive maneuvers.
  • Construction: This is an all-wood blade. It lacks the dampening properties often found in composite alternatives, contributing to its lively and vibrating playing experience.

Handling and Compatibility

  • Weight and Ergonomics: The blade is available with a flared Master handle, which accommodates players with smaller hands.
  • Rubber Pairing: The blade performs best when paired with rubbers that complement its aggressive potential. Users have found success with rubbers like Yasaka Mark V, though results can vary significantly based on the specific sponge hardness and tension chosen.

It is a good blade for aggressive style of play. However, it is difficult to defend with this blade, so beginners should not use it. The best rubbers to use are Yasaka Mark V2 for forehand and Mark V for backhand.

I bought it because it was an offer. I’ve put Bryce & Bryce FX on the frame, but for me, this combination is no good. I prefer a more all-around frame with some slower rubber.

But if you don’t try it, you never know, but I use it as a spare bat now.
