Butterfly Bryce Speed
Rubber description:
Bryce Speed is a high-performance inverted rubber primarily engineered for maximum speed and offensive play. It features a non-tacky top sheet paired with a medium-hard sponge, resulting in a low-throw trajectory. Its high rebound characteristics make it exceptionally effective for aggressive hitting, flat smashes, and punch shots.
Playing Characteristics
- Speed and Dwell: Renowned for extreme pace, this rubber provides significant rebound speed, making it well-suited for fast-paced, close-to-the-table counter-attacking and blocking. It is characterized by low dwell time on softer shots, which necessitates precise, high-speed strokes to engage the sponge effectively.
- Spin Potential: While capable of producing respectable spin during serves and specific offensive maneuvers, it is not primarily a spin-focused rubber. Users often find it more challenging to generate heavy topspin arcs or high-arc opening loops compared to dedicated spin-oriented rubbers.
- Tactical Usage: It excels in point-ending scenarios, such as smashes and aggressive blocks, where its speed can overwhelm opponents. It is generally considered less forgiving for players relying on slow-looping or varied spin-based rallies, as the lower throw angle and quick rebound require a high level of technical skill to maintain consistency.
Performance Considerations
- Skill Requirements: Due to its high speed and “alive” feel, the rubber requires quick arm speed and strong fundamental technique. It can be difficult to manage for beginners or players who struggle with recovery time between shots.
- Adaptation: The rubber may feel stiff during initial use but often requires a period of adjustment to master its speed and low arc. Performance can fluctuate as the rubber ages, with some users reporting a decrease in spin and feel over time. It performs particularly well when paired with stiffer, high-quality blades to maximize its speed potential.

The fastest rubber out there, no doubts. However, it lacks a lot of control when blocking.

Okay, I just recently changed my game, including equipment. I use Violin with Bryce Speed for forehand and FX for backhand.
One of the best blocking rubbers out there for those who play close to the table. This is on par with T05 when used for playing close to the table, depending on your game. T05’s higher throw helps with looping close to the table, but the Bryce Speed is more than capable for looping close to the table but has slightly less margin of error.
