Xiom Solo
Blade description:
This blade is a 7-ply all-wood construction, designed for players who prioritize a solid, linear, and direct playing experience. It is characterized by a Koto outer ply, which provides a stiffer feel and faster response compared to traditional Limba-topped 7-ply blades. The construction offers a generous sweet spot, excellent feedback, and high precision, making it a reliable choice for offensive styles, particularly those focusing on powerful smashes, precise blocking, and controlled loops.
Performance Characteristics
- Speed and Power: The blade is inherently fast and stable, offering a direct arc and a reliable, predictable ball trajectory. It is particularly effective for flat hitting and smashing. While it has ample speed, players should note that generating maximum power requires good technique and consistent use of body weight, as the blade performs best when driven by the user.
- Control and Feel: Despite its speed, it is highly regarded for its control and high-quality feedback. The blade exhibits minimal vibration and provides a solid, direct touch. It is generally described as having a low-to-mid throw angle, which aids in stability during the short game, pushing, and aggressive blocking.
- Flex and Dwell: The blade features a stiff structure that resists significant flex during low-power shots, contributing to its stability. It only exhibits noticeable flex on more powerful shots, allowing for a versatile performance range. It lacks a strong catapult effect, making it a highly predictable choice for players who want to rely on their own technical input.
Construction and Handling
- Composition: This is an all-wood 7-ply blade with a Koto outer veneer, resulting in a solid, high-quality build.
- Ergonomics: The handle is generally well-finished and comfortable, though feedback suggests that users with larger hands may find the flared handle dimensions to be on the smaller side. Depending on the specific rubber weight and player preference, the balance tends to be slightly head-heavy.
- Versatility: The blade is well-suited for close-to-mid-table play. It pairs effectively with a wide range of rubbers, including medium-hard to hard sponge varieties, and is frequently noted as an excellent choice for players utilizing short pips.

Little vibrations, plenty of control.
Not too fast.
Good quality blade.

The blade has a soft feel, direct nature, and versatility. There is absolutely no vibration. The blade has a mid-low throw, but it flexes a little bit when looping. It is good for blocking and pushing, but smashing is not its strong suit.

Dammit, another blade that I’m feeling so comfortable with for my style (offensive, spin-oriented, blocking, smashing). Paired with Fastarc G-1, I’ve had fun in training because everything works in a great manner. I have five different blades now, and I still can’t decide which one is my favorite. The season starts now, and any match play should lead me to a final decision. I’m really curious about that.
