Xiom Feel ZX2

Blade description:

The Xiom ZX2 is a composite blade featuring a 5+2 construction that incorporates the manufacturer’s proprietary carbon layer paired with a hinoki outer veneer. This combination provides a distinct, wooden-like feel despite its high offensive speed capabilities. It is characterized by a noticeable degree of flex, which assists in generating high-arcing topspin shots and maintaining feel during offensive play.

Performance Characteristics

  • Speed and Feel: The blade is classified as an offensive weapon capable of reaching high top-end speeds. The inclusion of hinoki wood results in a unique touch that is often described as hollow yet responsive.
  • Spin and Arc: The composition is optimized for spin-oriented offensive play, allowing for high rotation and significant ball arcs. It is particularly effective for topspin-based attacks.
  • Control: While fast, the blade maintains a balanced level of control during medium-intensity strokes and short-game exchanges. However, its high-speed nature requires precise technique; pairing it with medium or soft rubbers is recommended to keep the reaction times manageable and prevent the setup from becoming overly fast.
  • Ergonomics and Build: Known for its high-quality finishing, the blade is relatively lightweight. The handle design features a lower weight distribution, which may influence preference depending on the player’s preferred grip position.

One of the best blades I’ve ever played with.

First, it’s beautifully made with a very nice finish. It’s constructed with Xiom’s proprietary carbon and a pleasant hinoki outer layer, which provides a very nice feeling.

Although it’s a fast blade (OFF+), it maintains decent control and exhibits some flex. Furthermore, it’s very light and comfortable.

When receiving, the ball rises and often goes out of bounds (any ALC blade is better!). It has a bad short game.

Excellent blade. Coming from an Extreme S, I felt that the ZX2 has more speed and much better control. I glued Donic Blusotrm Z1 turbo on the forehand and Z1 on the backhand. It gets too fast, making it very hard to drive or generate spin, but it’s great for hitting flat. Medium rubbers should be a better choice.
