Xiom V1

Xiom V1 - mainXiom V1 - composition

Blade description:

The Xiom V1 is a composite blade featuring a 5+2 construction. It is designed to offer a balance between speed and stability, performing effectively as an offensive-oriented blade. Users report a medium-hard feel with minimal vibration, providing a consistent and reliable experience across various facets of play.

Performance and Feel

  • Speed and Control: The blade is categorized as OFF-, providing enough pace for aggressive play while maintaining high levels of control, particularly in the short game. It is noted for its stability, which aids in shot execution from both the table and at mid-distance.
  • Flex and Dwell: The blade offers sufficient dwell time to facilitate looping, including slower, spin-heavy shots. Compared to similar composite models, it displays a level of flexibility that supports offensive variety.
  • Weight and Balance: Generally lightweight, the blade is well-balanced. However, depending on rubber selection, it can lean toward being head-heavy, which complements its effectiveness in blocking and smashing.

Suitability

The V1 is well-suited for intermediate to advanced amateur players who prioritize a consistent, high-quality offensive blade. It pairs particularly well with medium-soft to hard rubbers, making it a versatile option for players who focus on looping, blocking, and controlled aggression. The manufacturing quality is noted as high, featuring a comfortable handle profile.

Blocker blade. Good for looping and smash. Hard rubber is recommended. Head is heavy. Good quality from Xiom.

I have the Stradivarius 88g and I am now using the V1 86g. In a fair test, both were put with Max Vega Pro on both sides. I found the V1 to have a slightly faster touch. Otherwise, I cannot separate these two blades. The V1 has a slightly harder feel. I think weight is important when buying blades. According to the Xiom scale, it can make the difference some of the time. The V1 was meant to be slower, but it is not. The main strength of both blades is looping. I can’t make up my mind which to use! 10/10 for both.
