The blade is bulky and not as good as it could be for the price. If possible, save up some more money and get a hinoki blade instead. This blade is not worth the money and is made of low-quality materials.

Hello, since there are so many bad reviews of this blade, I want to share my take on it. One reason for this big difference between all reviews could be that there are different versions of this blade. I am referring to the CS short handle penhold version. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32969977592.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.3c894c4dbDIVPH This blade, if you pair it with the right rubbers, is amazing in many aspects. I have tested it with very hard Chinese style rubbers like for FH: Nittaku Hurricane Pro III Turbo Blue, H3 Nat Blue sponge, and Donic BlueGrip C1. The result is quite amazing, and if I have to choose between these 3 FH rubbers, No.1 would be Donic, No.2 Nittaku Hurricane, and No.3 would be H3 Blue Sponge Nat. When playing with these rubbers on FH, speed is very slow when you are playing soft and when using more power, the speed is comparable with my fastest carbon super Zlc Butterfly blade Jun Mizutani. The difference is that with that expensive Butterfly blade, I don’t have the same feeling and control in the soft touch play. So this Galaxy J-1 blade has so many gears and a feeling/control that only a 1 ply blade can offer - it’s very unique. Also, for the BH side, I strongly recommend hard to very hard Chinese tacky rubbers like H3 style. It is a fantastic combination with this extreme soft and flexy blade, to pair it with modern Chinese tacky hard rubbers. I have been going through 80-90 different rubbers, ESN rubbers like T05, Dignics 80 and 09C, all DHS rubbers, and many many more. I have at least been through 50 different blades from Stiga, Butterfly, and during the last year, I have been testing 1 ply blades with Hinoki, Red Cedar, Yellow Cedar, and now also Ayous wood. And Ayous is the best for me, the best combination of worlds… High speed when you want it, slow soft speed when you want it, and the control/feeling is among the best I have ever experienced. And the price is right now USD 24 and I have just ordered 1 more of this masterpiece. Thank you :-) BC.

This blade is very cheap. It has a medium-low speed for Japanese Penhold style of play, and a strange and inconsistent performance. The sweet spot is very small, making it difficult to play with this blade. In general, I do not recommend it.

I purchased this blade as a trial due to its low price. If you genuinely wish to experiment with a Japanese penhold grip (Jpen), I highly recommend investing in a single-layer hinoki blade. Presently, there are affordable Chinese hinoki options available. Choosing this blade may lead you to discount Jpen as enjoyable and swiftly revert to the shakehand grip.

This blade is characterized by its bulkiness, inconsistency, excessive slowness, and minimal sensitivity. Many individuals mistakenly perceive this blade as suitable for beginners due to its slow speed. However, this perception is incorrect. While it is indeed slow, it lacks feedback, resulting in a playing experience comparable to using a brick. If you desire a slower blade, opt for a thinner hinoki rather than this one. Embrace a hinoki blade and express your gratitude later.

Incidentally, this blade is not lighter than hinoki. In comparison to my Hibi-O, it is 2 grams heavier, while it is 2 grams lighter than my Cypress G-Max.

Wonderful feeling blade. Mine has a long flared, large-sized flared handle that fits beautifully in my extra large hands. It’s a heavy weapon that will require you to adjust your strokes if you’re accustomed to thin 5ply blades. Forget wristy flicks unless you have wrists of steel. Die-hard loopers may find this blade unwieldy, and your triceps will scream in pain.

Despite its weight, it offers a great feeling blade with a soft touch and excellent dwell time. The feel differs significantly from hinoki, so it’s not a cheap alternative but rather a blade with its own unique character. Notably, it’s lighter in comparison with non-Japanese hinoki variants.

Pair up mine with RITC 729 08. Definitely a defensive weapon in that set up, lack control at high speed, but in slow to medium speed loops, might frustrate opponents, since I’m an offensive two wing looper, this blade serves as a good practice as departure from my Stiga CR blade which helps alot in my offensive style.

Maybe I’ll abandon my J1 if I found a better blade, as my Stiga got stolen in a tournament.

If anyone is buying this blade for the ayous single ply, do note that it’s thick and heavy, small hands not recommended to wield this thing, and again imho definitely a defensive blade rather than attacking and will recommend to anyone practising backspins, loop and defensive games…

This blade is significantly different from any others I have used. While its speed and dwell time are adequate, other individual features are satisfactory. However, its unique characteristics in fast gameplay necessitate a specific playing style, which I am not inclined to adopt.

The experience of playing with this blade was akin to playing against long pips, with the disturbance emanating from the blade itself. The spin and trajectory seemed to fluctuate unpredictably.

In the short game, performance was unremarkable.

I paired this blade with maximum-thickness Xiom Sigma Euro and Pro rubbers, which have performed well on other blades.

The weight of my blade is 96 grams.

This is a very exotic one-ply blade. In my opinion, this blade is perfect for all-around players. However, despite its lack of speed, control is excellent. But do not worry, this can be offset by choosing the right rubber. I am sure you will love this blade. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

This blade definitely gives you the control you need. Although it’s not the fastest blade, with this amount of control, it’ll definitely be the best in fast rallies.

I love this awesome blade! I also have the Butterfly Kim Taek Soo version. I initially purchased this blade as a trial, but it provides a remarkably similar feel to the Kim Taek Soo.

You don’t need to spend a significant amount of money to experience a high-quality blade. Give this blade a try, and I’m confident you’ll be impressed. Please feel free to adjust the phrasing slightly as needed.

Very nice feeling, you get nice feedback. The blade is not too fast and has nice control. It really has a unique feeling.

#12 — July 2011

Very good all-round blade, the feeling of the single Ayous layer is like no other.

Love it very much. I have a straight handle, 729 Cream Transcend 1.5 on the backhand, and Rakza 7 1.8 on the forehand. It is very good for over-the-table play, with good control and excellent blocking and looping capabilities. It is a bit heavy, so ask for some adaptation time when you start to use it.

I really like this blade. I have it in Jpen with LKT Red Diamond. It loops really well (with great spin) and the control over the table is very good.
