Donic Quattro Formula
Rubber description:
This rubber is a soft-sponged tensor designed primarily for aggressive all-round play. It is characterized by a noticeably high throw angle, which facilitates heavy topspin production and makes it effective for lifting backspin. The soft sponge provides increased dwell time, allowing for enhanced feedback and touch during controlled exchanges.
Playing Characteristics
- Spin and Speed: While it provides respectable spin potential for loop-driven attacks, it is generally considered more focused on spin than raw speed. It performs best during mid-distance rallies, though it can feel somewhat lacking in gears when played close to the table.
- Control and Feel: The soft sponge aids in ball placement and short-game control, particularly during pushes. However, the high throw angle can be demanding for players accustomed to classic, less dynamic rubbers, and some users may find the blocking characteristics require a significant adjustment period.
- Physical Properties: It is recognized for being a lightweight rubber, which contributes to ease of use for backhand setups. Users should note that the surface tackiness is minimal, and the rubber’s performance characteristics, particularly its surface grip, may degrade over time.
Suitability
This rubber is most appropriate for all-rounders who favor a high-arching trajectory in their attacking game. Because of its weight and soft feel, it is frequently utilized as a backhand option. Players prioritizing extreme durability or high-tack surfaces may find the longevity and surface characteristics less favorable compared to firmer, more traditional options.

Paired with Donic Dotec Walder AR blade, this rubber did not seem to excel in any particular area compared to other rubbers available on the market at the time of this review (2015). The combination of high throw, soft sponge, and low control did not prove to be effective.
With improved control, this rubber might have had more potential. However, due to its low control (as also indicated by the community ratings), it failed to perform exceptionally well in any aspect, delivering a performance that could be matched by other rubbers at a similar price point.
Despite its noticeably higher throw compared to standard rubbers like Hexer or Vega Europe/Vega Pro, it lacked the control, spin, or speed of these rubbers. The throw angle was slightly lower than T05.
Numerous rubbers offer better combinations of control and spin, control and speed, speed and throw, among other factors. Unless the Dotec AR was a poor blade/rubber combination, the community ratings provide an accurate assessment of its performance, with ratings such as 5.5/10 for durability and 5/10 for gears, indicating an overall average performance.

Not so fast but very controllable and spinny rubber. Good choice for backhandside for all-around players. 2.0mm is the best option for me. I really like this rubber.

Very soft sponge and light rubber utilizing tensor. Control is much better than most tensors due to the soft sponge (extra dwell time).
Quite fast though, meant for spin more than speed.
Most suitable for all-rounder attack with extra control rather than all-out speed.
