Tibhar Grass D.TecS
Rubber description:
This long-pips rubber is highly regarded for its spin reversal capabilities and disruptive playing characteristics. It is widely considered one of the most deceptive options on the market, frequently utilized by defenders and players seeking to confuse opponents with unpredictable ball trajectories, “wobble” effects, and “knuckle” balls. Due to its unique properties, it requires significant practice and technical adjustment to master, and it is generally recommended for experienced players rather than beginners.
Playing Characteristics
- Spin Manipulation: Offers high levels of spin reversal, effectively returning topspin as backspin or floating dead balls. It is sensitive to incoming spin yet allows for precise manipulation when paired with the correct technique.
- Speed and Control: This is a relatively fast long-pips rubber with a “lively” feel. While it provides excellent control in the hands of an experienced user, it is not particularly forgiving; small errors in bat angle can lead to unforced errors.
- Versatility: The rubber is effective for a variety of strokes, including aggressive blocking, chop-blocking, and defensive chopping away from the table. It also possesses unexpected attacking potential, particularly when using versions with thin sponge, which allow for better lift against backspin.
- Dwell Time and Feel: The rubber features a grippy surface that assists in lifting backspin balls. It is often noted that the OX (no sponge) version maximizes the disruptive “junk” effect and spin reversal, while the addition of sponge improves stability, attacking consistency, and ease of play.
Technical Considerations
- Rubber Type: Long Pimples.
- Blade Pairing: Performance is highly dependent on the blade selection. It generally performs best when matched with a stiff, hard, and slower defensive blade. Using it with overly fast or soft blades can make the rubber difficult to control.
- Durability: The manufacturing quality is high, providing good durability even with consistent play.
- Skill Requirement: Due to its sensitive nature and high-performance ceiling, it is considered a professional-grade tool. Players often find that it takes an extended period of training to unlock its full potential and effectively manage its speed.

One of the best pimple rubbers I’ve ever used, a little bit harder to use than Victas P1v and P3 but more deceptive. Only requires a little more adjustment and if you get used to it, you can beat a lot of players than you are used to. I tried the 0.9mm sponge, 1.2mm, and 1.6mm and the one that suited my liking is 1.2mm and the 2nd one is the 0.9mm sponge.
