The Victas V > 01 is a versatile and user-friendly table tennis rubber that balances speed, spin, and control, making it appealing for players of all skill levels. It features a medium-hard sponge with a hardness rating of 6.5, which, contrary to its stated hardness, is often described as feeling softer during play. This unique sponge technology allows for a distinctive trampoline effect, where the rubber compresses upon impact and then rapidly rebounds, providing a comfortable and engaging feel during rallies.
Tackiness is rated at a low 0.7, which means while it may not generate the extreme spin of some competitors, it offers a consistent and reliable performance that empowers players to easily execute their strokes. The rubber’s speed and spin ratings are both commendably high at 9.1, contributing to its suitability for offensive playstyles, particularly for aggressive loops and counter-hitting. However, several reviews suggest that high-level players may find its grip insufficient for heavy spin serves and advanced short game techniques.
In terms of weight, the Victas V > 01 is categorized as lightweight, which aids in maneuverability and makes it a fantastic option for beginners seeking a forgiving and accessible rubber. The durability, though a point of contention, is rated around 7.3, with many users report a decrease in lifespan after a few months of play. Some players suggest alternatives like Tenergy rubbers for increased durability and spin potential. However, given its lower price point—often about a quarter of the cost of its competitors—the Victas V > 01 remains an attractive option for those willing to replace their rubbers frequently. Overall, it is seen as a reliable choice for casual and intermediate players alike, providing a solid foundation for skill development.
This rubber exhibited poor durability despite limited use, a common characteristic of German-made rubbers. After a few months, it developed a fully plastic sensation.
Despite these shortcomings, the rubber possesses unique qualities. The sponge compresses significantly upon contact and then rapidly rebounds, creating a trampoline-like effect with an elongated trajectory. This attribute provides an exceptional feel, deviating from its advertised 47.5 hardness towards a softer 45 hardness.
The rubber is remarkably user-friendly and relatively insensitive to spin. Open-ups are easily executed, and all strokes can be performed effectively. It shares similarities with T64, enabling effective counters from mid-distance and powerful off-the-bounce shots, particularly when new.
The primary drawback is its grip. High-level players may notice a noticeable reduction in spin on serves, short games, and handling of half-long balls. Despite this, the rubber offers superior grip and durability compared to the Etika.
Overall, the rubber resembles T64 in terms of characteristics, offering less grip but a distinctive sponge feel. Its performance is linear and user-friendly, with an arc that falls between T64 and Etika. As is typical of ESN rubbers, durability is lacking.
While the rubber excels in generating effortless loop kills, it does not produce significant spin. As a result, players may experience a trade-off, sacrificing shot quality for increased ball control. An alternative option, T64, is available at a higher cost. However, considering the affordability of the V>01, it may be more cost-effective to replace it regularly, based on individual preference.
I use it on BH (with V>15 on FH) and it’s a very good match. It has great control and blocking abilities. I also appreciate its light weight.
It’s also a perfect rubber for beginners, very easy to play with: linear, and forgiving. Since it’s inexpensive, I recommend it to all my beginner friends and they are always satisfied.
Great rubber for spin, speed, and control. Suited for both BH and FH with a medium arc. If you have used Victas V < 15 on the backhand, your index finger does not touch a part of the imprint. The rubber is fast but is not loaded with a catapult, meaning you need to generate a lot of the force yourself.
