This rubber was great for practice. Unfortunately, it is now discontinued.

For a while, Ma Lin actually played with this rubber with his backhand and this rubber offers good control and good spin. I tested the 729 Friendship 802-40 on my backhand on a Yinhe Galaxy V10 blade and found that I could generate a lot of spin on serves and loops.

This rubber lacks speed and is not a bouncy sheet. Spin is okay, and control is good. However, blocks are great and counterdrives are amazing.

#4 — March 2012

The rubber is quite hard, not as fast as expected, though. It is challenging to master and requires strong skills. Due to its difficulty, it is recommended for advanced attackers. In my opinion, it performs better on the backhand.

After using New Era for 3 weeks, I found it challenging to control. However, the spin is excellent, particularly for looping.

New Era is best suited for advanced players. Using it is an enjoyable experience.

The best rubber for reverse Chinese penhold backhand! Top spin and loops are amazing! Very bad for smashing! Always lose control! This rubber is really for advanced players which I am not.

I compared this rubber to a Mark V, both of them in max. I noticed that it is much harder and has lower throw. That is what I liked about this rubber, which is very good on the backhand but not as good as the Mark V on the forehand.

It is good with a carbon bat. This rubber is not suitable for playing slicing.

The New Era rubber is ideal for playing backhand strokes, in my opinion. It’s strong and well-suited for offensive players who want a powerful backhand.

#10 — November 2009

This rubber is designed for advanced players. Only experienced players should use this rubber.

I’m a C Pen player, though by no means an advanced offensive player. For what it’s worth, I find I get great spin, good control, and more than adequate speed using New Era on my forehand on a Donic Appelgren Allplay blade (a slowish all-round blade).

However, there’s no trace of New Eras in Japan now, and apparently Yasaka don’t make it anymore, so I suspect that many, like me, will soon be looking for a replacement.

New Era is an excellent rubber for advanced offensive players. It is highly recommended for those seeking optimal performance at that level.

Additionally, it is important to note that there is only one genuine version of Yasaka New Era. Any other covers (e.g., green, pink) claiming to be New Era with variations in control, speed, or spin are fraudulent. The authentic New Era features a distinctive cartoon-like cover.
