Andro Fibercomp DEF
Blade description:
This is an all-wood, balsa-core blade designed to support a modern defensive or all-round style. While it features a balsa core, users report that it lacks the traditional, distinct “balsa feel” often associated with such constructions. It incorporates glass fiber, which results in a noticeably stiff blade profile that expands the sweet spot and provides enough punch for aggressive play.
Performance Characteristics
- Speed and Power: Despite its defensive classification, the blade exhibits enough speed to function as an ALL or even OFF- blade. This allows for effective sudden attacks, though users note that pairing it with high-tension or very fast rubbers can make the setup difficult to control.
- Control and Feel: The blade is characterized by high control, particularly for defensive maneuvers like chopping and blocking. It offers good vibration feedback, which is often cited as a benefit when using long pips.
- Physicality: The blade head is smaller than typical defensive blades, which improves maneuverability and makes twiddling easier. The stiffness provided by the composite construction assists in generating power and reliable reversal, particularly when blocking close to the table.
Usage Recommendations
This blade is well-suited for long-range chopping and close-to-the-table blocking. Because of its inherent stiffness and speed, it is recommended to pair it with slower or softer rubbers to maintain optimal control. It is often described as a versatile option for players developing their long pips skills, providing a reliable platform for a balanced mix of defensive consistency and unexpected offensive capability.

My favorite blade! I play with Giant Long 0.5 and Palio CJ8000 Biotech. The blade is stiff and requires soft rubber and is slow, because it is quite fast like an off- blade. It works well for short table blocks, attacking with loops, and chopping. It is the best blade for an allround game with long pips.

I played with this blade with Dornenglanz ox for a long time, but stopped using it because it lacks a unique identity.
I should note that this blade does not have the infamous balsa feel, whether you like it or hate it.
The blade is average in spin generation and spin sensitivity. Its hardness and stiffness feel medium. There are many faster and many slower blades made for defensive players.
It can be a good blade to develop long pips skills. As you become more sure with your pips, you will probably switch to a faster blade.
