The Butterfly Timo Boll T5000 is an exceptional table tennis blade designed for aggressive players who seek uncompromising speed and power. Constructed with a 7-ply design that incorporates T-5000 carbon, this blade offers a combination of high-speed performance and solid control, striking a perfect balance for powerful topspin shots and smashes during intense rallies. It has been highly rated for its impressive speed, with an overall rating of 9 out of 10, making it an appealing choice for those who thrive on offensive gameplay.
Weighing approximately 90g and featuring a thickness of 5.5mm, the Timo Boll T5000 is classified as a medium-weight blade. This thickness, combined with its stiff structure, allows the player to generate fast, explosive shots without sacrificing too much in terms of control. The stiffness rating of 7.3 adds to its suitability for powerful attacking styles, though some users have noted that this stiffness can reduce the feel during softer play, possibly making it less optimal for close-to-the-table techniques.
Players looking for alternatives may consider blades from the same category such as the Butterfly Primorac Carbon for a slightly different feel or the DHS Hurricane Long 5 for a blade that offers a balance of speed and touch. However, the T5000 remains a standout option for those focused on generating significant power from the mid-distance, thanks to its large sweet spot and hard construction. Whether you’re executing high-speed loops or looking to unleash devastating smashes, the Butterfly Timo Boll T5000 provides the arsenal necessary for dominating competitive play.
Very stiff and hard blade, suitable for aggressive attacking players playing in the near zone at high speeds.
I asked for the lightest blade with an anatomic handle. It weighs 85.9g and is 5.5mm thick. The blade has beautiful patterns and is of high quality.
The Razka 7 Soft is suitable for both sides, but I have it on the forehand and the Razka 7 on the backhand. The feel is not too hard, and there is very little vibration when hitting hard due to the T-5000 carbon absorbing most of the vibrations.
The speed is very fast, equal to the Primorac Carbon but slightly slower and not as bouncy as my JMSZLC but faster than the Zhang Jike SZLC. This blade can produce the most spin among all my blades, maybe equal to or better than the JMSZLC.
It can do all kinds of shots: touch shots over the net, slow or fast loops, flicks, and underspins. I adjusted to it within 20 minutes. The T-5000 carbon works great on a thin blade like this with a perfect blend of speed, control, and spin.
I think the biggest disadvantage of this blade is the lack of dwell and less feel from the carbon. Here is a summary of my review:
* Speed=9.6 * Control=8.5 * Spin=9.5 * Feel=8 (solid & without vibration) * Flick=easy * Flex=6.5 * Hardness=6 * Balance=good * AN grip=nice shape but small * Dwell=avg- * Smash, flat hit & Drive=excellent * Throw=med * Serve=excellent * Sweetspot=huge * Touch shot=excellent * Overall=9.3
Been using this blade for less than a year. It is an awesome, powerful blade that works well with Tibhar MXP on the forehand and Xiom Omega V.
