The Donic Epox TopSpeed is an exceptionally fast table tennis blade renowned for its impressive offensive capabilities. Crafted with a combination of five plies, this blade leverages a robust wooden construction that contributes to its powerful performance. Players who favor aggressive styles will appreciate the blade’s high-speed potential, making it suitable for those who excel in fast-paced rallies and strong attacking maneuvers.
In terms of specifications, the Epox TopSpeed has a medium to heavy weight, typically around 90g, which can feel significant for some players but offers stability during play. Its thickness, exceeding 7mm, provides a solid and stiff feel, enhancing the hitting power on every stroke. The stiffness rating of 7.1 indicates that while the blade is rigid enough for forceful attacks, it may not lend itself well to delicate touch shots, which is a trade-off some users have noted.
The blade’s flexibility capitalizes on its rigid structure, allowing players to generate speed effectively; however, control can be a challenge, particularly for less experienced players, as highlighted in various reviews. While some users report struggling with consistency, others find their game improves significantly once they adapt to its handling characteristics.
Alternatives to the Donic Epox TopSpeed include the Donic Baum Carrera Senso and carbon blades like the Primorac Carbon or Waldner Black Devil, which might appeal to players seeking a balance of speed and control. Overall, the Epox TopSpeed is an excellent choice for power-driven players who are willing to invest time to master its unique handling, making it a significant contender in the realm of offensive table tennis blades.
I have seven blades: DHS Hurricane Long 5, Butterfly Viscaria, Galaxy YINHE T-11+, DHS power G7, Sanwei F3, Butterfly Sardius, and Donic. However, I always end up using this blade for its amazing FL grip.
I always end up using this blade despite having tested several others. I disagree with those stating that this blade is almost uncontrollable. I use Donic Bluefire JP 01 Turbo for both backhand/forehand and it’s just amazing.
Yesterday I started my session using the Butterfly Korbel Off Blade with Tenergy 05FX. That’s a really good combination with amounts of both speed and control. After 30 minutes I switched to the Mizuno Valour with Andro Rasant Turbo, also a really good combination. After another 30 minutes I then started using my Epox Topspeed.
The difference is unbelievable. It feels like it plays itself. Don’t worry that the Epox Topspeed is a bit heavy. You’ll get used to it within a few hours. Totally recommended!
Great blade. I really like it with Juic 999 Elite in 1.5 mm. It provides very clean hits, making it easier to control and predict its reaction to incoming spins compared to some of my other offensive blades.
I am eager to try the other Epox blades to observe their differences. Moreover, this blade has the best sound among all the blades I have used.
