Blade description:

This all-wood blade features a classic 5-ply construction, typically utilizing a Limba-Ayous configuration. It is designed as an all-round to offensive-minus (ALL+/OFF-) blade that excels in touch play, short game control, and precise ball placement. With a thickness of approximately 5.8 mm, it offers enough structural integrity for finishing points while maintaining the flexibility required for effective looping.

Playing Characteristics

  • Feel and Feedback: Known for providing significant ball feedback, the blade has a medium to high throw angle. Its inherent flex complements tacky or harder rubbers, aiding in spin generation during topspin play.
  • Speed and Power: While it offers sufficient speed for smashes and point-ending hits, it is not categorized as a high-speed offensive weapon. Users note that performance at mid-to-long distances requires more physical effort compared to faster composite blades.
  • Versatility: The blade is well-regarded for blocking and tactical play close to the table. Its moderate speed makes it highly suitable for beginners developing their fundamentals, yet it remains capable of serving more advanced players who prioritize control and consistency over raw power.

Handling and Build

  • Weight and Balance: The blade is generally lightweight, though balance can shift toward the head depending on the weight of the rubbers used.
  • Handle and Finish: The handle shapes, including flared and anatomical options, are noted for their comfort. Some versions feature a standard head size, while variations in recent production may result in a slightly smaller head surface. As the wood used in the handle may absorb moisture, sealing is recommended for long-term maintenance.

Very good wood, great control.

It doesn’t have the best finish in the world, but the wood quality is good. It doesn’t lack power and provides a lot of feeling, making it suitable for developing different strokes.

This blade is believed to be an original Nittaku design, created for Waldner. It supposedly evolved into what is now the Nittaku Acoustic, which features a much better finish, a tang in the core of the wood, and a different gluing method.

This is a waste of money blade. It feels like the blade is empty. I tried it with several rubbers, including Dignics, Evolution, and Rasanter, and the blade is terrible. I’m not sure how others give it a good review.
