All-wood
The best blade I have used. Extreme control in every hit, ideal for chopping especially with Feint Long 2 or 3, and significantly good at blocking and fishing. Being slow enables hard chopping from behind, but you will need a fast offensive rubber to attack. I have tried it with Tenergy 05, but it’s a bit hard to play and attack from far off. For me, it best suits with a Chinese top sheet rubber. I have played with Hurricane Neo 3, and it’s the best combination to get the best feeling and security in every shot. Potentially can be managed better with Donic BlueGrip C2, as it’s a faster version of Hurricane.
This blade is well-suited for chopping and blocking techniques. However, it may be less effective for looping or “killing” shots due to its increased hardness.
I always wanted to buy this blade since I considered it quite good due to the nature of its construction. The blade is not big, around 158 mm x 154 mm, so it is close to the dimensions of an offensive blade. I rate this blade as an ALL, with extreme control, kind of slow but very consistent on about 80% of the blade surface. I’m currently using it with an offensive pimple rubber - TSP P-4 - and I think it would go well with a slower P-1 rubber.
As for the other rubber, I’m pairing it with an Acuda S3, which works well when it comes to blocks, spin, chop, even topspin, but I might migrate to a better defensive rubber. Overall, this is a very good blade. In my opinion, it is at least at the level of the Defsenso blade from Donic, if not above it due to the cork handle. I would recommend this blade to a friend!
Great blade with great control.
This is the blade for you if you prioritize control and blocking. The performance is near flawless. This blade is not the fastest for attacking. However, you can generate a significant amount of formidable spin with this blade, surprising your opponents. I rate it 9 overall.
If you desire extra control with decent power, this is the blade for you. It excels in all aspects of the game, including chops, loops, pushes, and blocks.
However, it truly shines in the control department. The WangXi dotec provides an exceptional amount of feedback on every hit, making it feel like an extension of your arm or hand.
On the downside, its speed and power may not be suitable for an attacking playstyle.
I’ve had a couple of sessions to play with this blade. I used the BTY Joo Se Hyuk prior to this and the first thing I noticed is that this blade is very light compared to the Joo Se Hyuk and is much quicker. The same chopping actions resulted in more spin being imparted in play, forehand loops became quicker and overall I was impressed. I wonder if this is a replacement to the Joo Se Hyuk for the way I play; this is even better.
I’ve been using this blade for around 18 months now. I’ve tried other blades but keep coming back to this one. That cork handle is just fantastic. I really can’t see why other manufacturers don’t use the same material much more. Also, the blade has loads of control and enough speed to finish a point when required.
I’m currently using DMS Spinfire on the fh and Giant Dragon Meteorite Ox on the bh. As another review suggested, it works great with Donic Bluegrip C2. I did find that the blade was a little soft for my chop block style but I can punch and drive with the ox pimps and it’s very nice with spinny short pimps.
I’m a terrible fiddler so I looked for a harder veneer to try on the bh and used 0.5mm Bamboo. The handle design is perfect for adding veneers. It has transformed the bh performance. I can do pretty much everything with the ox pimps now. It gives great spin reversal, chops, drives, punches, chop blocks, and even what looks like a loop (it tends to come off the table rather flat). Cost me £3 to do.
I now have 5 blades and reworked 4 of them with bamboo. I’m a bit of an EJ! I did have 7 but people keep asking to buy them off me as they’re so nice to play with! Try this blade. You’ll love it.
Control and feel are excellent, although a larger head size would have been preferable.
The handle is also very comfortable.
The blade is very control-oriented.
The handle is stunning, especially for those who sweat a lot.
Combined with faster rubbers, it offers controlled gameplay.
Good control and a good defensive blade.
Having played with the Dotec Lefthand for 10 years, the slight angle in that blade means that, with the WangQi straight handle, I have to relearn everything.
After some hours of practice, I’m happy to report that I now have a backhand loop that was previously better for blocking but locked up when looping. I’m glad for that improvement. I’m also finding my block game with the WQ, and my forehand loop is coming along.
Overall, it doesn’t bother me that the WQ is defensive and not so fast. I’m playing with Tibhar Hybrid K3 on the backhand and 5Q Sound on the forehand. I’ll probably go for a slightly harder rubber on the forehand side once I’m more used to the WQ.
Well recommended since I love the handles on the Dotec series. Cheers!
This is a very slow blade with massive control and a nice finish. I like the feel of the blade in my hand, especially the nicely rounded edges and the Cork Handle. I opted for the straight handle.
My only complaint is that the spin reversal and “disturbance” were not what I expected. I mostly got dead balls off my Grass Dtecs backhand.
A good control blade for DEF and All-Round play.
Good, controllable blade.
I have had this blade for many years, having bought it from another store. TT11 sells it for much less!
The service is excellent as well. Thank you, Steve.
Good control base, comfortable to play close to the table.
First, I have to mention that the shipping was even faster than expected, thanks!
Now, about the blade. I bought the ST version, and the craftsmanship is nice with only some small (and forgivable) flaws. It felt very nice in hand with all the curvy edges. It’s pretty slow and stiff when touching it, but flexy as it vibrates a lot upon impact—this could be a good and bad thing.
This blade is not an oversized one, though (at least not in the way we describe an oversized blade). It’s about the same size as a Korbel, though a little shorter and a tiny bit wider.
Superb feeling and very nice to hold in your hand. Good control.
