Woke. This is a super fancy, “woke” blade.
My blade weighs 78 grams. In terms of speed, it’s similar to a Viscaria. However, the control is better than the Viscaria.
It doesn’t rebound like ALC blades, and sometimes it lacks power on smashes. It’s great for counter loops.
Overall, it’s a great blade. I wish it had a thicker handle.
What a blade! In the past, I’ve used Nittaku, Butterfly Viscaria, and Korbel blades. In recent years, I’ve experimented with Donic Dotec and Dotec Carbon. I particularly loved the handle’s length and thickness on the Donic blades.
Based on my experience with the Dotec blades, there’s only one con regarding the Xtreme: the handle thickness. It feels like holding a pencil (this is most likely just my personal issue due to the Dotec’s thickness). I’m forced to use Yonex tape (which I highly recommend), making it difficult for me to properly evaluate the blade’s vibration. However, the blade feels great.
The control is incredible. Passive plays, blocks, and short receives are very easy. On the other hand, there’s still enough power for powerful smashes or spins, with a nice trajectory for under-the-table spins. However, technique needs precision; open racket shots are prone to going off.
Also, I was surprised that with Xiom Z1 and Z2 rubbers, both in max+ thickness (total weight 194g), the gravity center was too far in the blade head. This felt very uncomfortable for my wrist. Luckily, in my case, this was slightly compensated by the Yonex tape, which also relieved pressure. With the Dotec blade and the same rubbers, the gravity center was closer to the middle (but it was missing power, perhaps because of this).
I couldn’t be luckier to have chosen this blade. It offers super power with incredible control. 10/10.
