Nittaku Violin Carbon Table Tennis Blade Review

Overview
The Nittaku Violin Carbon is the latest addition to their string instrument series. It is rated as an OFF blade with medium hardness and falls on the lighter side, with a flared handle weighing approximately 87g.

Composition and Performance
The Violin Carbon features two carbon layers, making it notably stiffer than the original Violin, despite its thin 5.3mm thickness. This increased stiffness enhances the blade’s blocking capabilities.

Despite its firmness, the blade maintains good control, which I would rate around 8 out of 10. The FE carbon provides exceptional stability without compromising feel. The original Violin tended to be too flexible for plastic balls, resulting in unwanted vibrations during hard hits. The Violin Carbon, however, eliminates these vibrations while retaining excellent feel. In fact, I believe it has the best feel among the blades I have used.

Rubber Recommendations
For consistent looping with the Violin Carbon, rubbers around 45 degrees hardness are recommended. I have successfully used Hurricane 3-50 for forehand and Evolution EL-S for backhand, both rated at 45 degrees. While H3-50 was ideal for forehand, EL-S proved to be slightly too hard for backhand. Softer rubber may be advisable if your backhand is weaker than your forehand.

Conclusion
I highly recommend the Violin Carbon and rate it 9 out of 10. Its exceptional feel and performance make it a pleasure to play with.

#2 — Long Time Ago...

I recently upgraded from the DHS Hurricane King 2 to the Butterfly Razena, which is my first carbon composite blade. The wood grain is evenly spaced and looks amazing, while the carbon gives it the largest sweet spot I’ve ever seen.

This blade provides stable hits, crisp attacks, and makes looping easy. I paired it with Nittaku Tubo blue forehand and G-1 backhand.

I love this blade setup. It has improved my attacks and given my loops a major boost. I’ve only played with it for two months, but it already feels like an extension of my hand. While there may be faster blade and rubber combinations out there, this setup consistently lands and provides me with high spin.
