Update 26Jun22. I have this rubber on H301 for Rpb. This setup performs much better than on harder composite blades like the YEO7. The speed is sufficient for lethal shots. I struggled to lift backspin on the YEO7, but the H301 provides ample lift. I find this rubber to play more reliably on a more flexible blade. Harder composite blades make this rubber harder to control due to its enormous speed, resulting in either overshooting or hitting the net with a low throw angle. With the H301 setup, it is possible to generate decent spin. Based on these observations, I have revised my rating from 8.3 to 9.3.
One thing that I noticed when I first tried this rubber sheet is that it has a lower throw angle than Tenergy 80. Most of my shots went straight to the net again and again. For those who are familiar with the Tenergy family rubber, they will feel regret spending money on BHS. Anyway, you need more time to get used to this rubber.
Very fast rubber: Offers high speed and dynamic play.
Less spin than other rubbers: Provides lower spin potential, resulting in a more direct and less controlled style of play.
To bring out the power and spin of this rubber, it needs to be paired with a single ply Hinoki blade.
The spin is quite well, not low.
It can serve a fast spin ball.
Blocking and driving with this rubber is very fast.
It performs very well if paired with the correct blade.
Very good, but as a spin player, there is nothing to collect here.
Blocking and Punching:
Blocks feel effortless and magical with this rubber. It provides a high level of control, making it suitable for backhand play.
Spin and Flicking:
Producing spin is achievable, but the springy nature of the sponge limits dwell time, making backhand flicks require higher speed. Additionally, the sensitivity of the rubber means spin on the ball can significantly affect its trajectory.
Looping and Punching:
Looping requires a steep vertical motion, and the rubber performs well for punching strokes. Blocking and punching with this rubber are a joy, providing excellent control and satisfaction.
Off-Table Performance:
When used away from the table, this rubber excels. It behaves consistently, enabling sufficient spin with RPB strokes to apply pressure. However, traditional backhand strokes may be more comfortable for penholders.
Comparison and Recommendation:
If additional spin is desired, consider Bryce or Bryce Speed. For players seeking exceptional punching and blocking capabilities, this rubber offers an ideal solution.
Great rubber for Forehand. It took a month to adjust looping skill from Japanese rubber. This is an excellent rubber.
This rubber is the fastest in the Butterfly series, as stated on their official website. Consequently, this rubber has a short dwell time but allows for easy blocking. It performs well on the backhand, providing good grip on the poly ball and excelling in close to the table and mid-distance play. However, it becomes more challenging at a distance from the table due to its medium throw angle.
This rubber is very fast, even compared to T05, T64, MXP, and Bryce Speed. It can perform as well as those rubbers without fast glue, as seen in Ryu Seung Min’s performance at the 2004 Olympic Games.
However, the only significant drawback is that fast footwork and accurate ball gripping are required to prevent the ball from falling short.
This is my first rubber that I bought when I started to play table tennis. I have used this rubber on my BH and FH on T. Boll Offensive New Wood. I can only say that this rubber is very, very fast with a wood blade. I can only imagine what the feel is like with a carbon blade.
This is not a rubber for beginners or people who want to learn table tennis. From my own experience, it is very hard to learn looping with this rubber because it has a really short dwell time, and the ball hits the net almost always, even if you do your shot correctly. There is a really small error margin, and you have to know what you are doing with this rubber all the time.
However, this rubber is super good for blocking. Blocks are so fast, fast like you are smashing the ball. The rubber is very sensitive to spin but it cannot generate as much spin like T05. It is fun to play with this rubber, but it is an expensive toy.
Pros: Smashing, Blocking
Cons: Looping, control
My verdict: 9! GL all TT players.
