This rubber doesn’t feel like a top-end one, but it has a similar feeling to T05 with that bouncy trampoline effect. It can make spinny shots and has good control, especially when blocking heavy spin. It has a soft feeling with a high throw, making it suitable for intermediate all+ off- players.
Fast rubber, because of the harder top sheet you have a harder feel.
It doesn’t forgive; you must activate this rubber with arm movement.
It has very big spin and speed potential but you must brush the ball strongly. If you do that correctly, you will be rewarded.
Spin insensitive which is very nice.
It grabs the ball very well, it has a nice clicking sound, and it is durable.
Medium weight, medium-low throw.
Overall, very good rubber in my case for forehand.
In short:
The topsheet is harder than S1 Turbo, while the sponge is a bit softer.
Speed: Not a monster in terms of speed, but reasonably fast.
Spin: Above average, but not exceptional for serves.
Control: Excellent control is this rubber’s standout feature.
Weight: Medium weight, slightly lighter than Barracuda.
Loops: Good, but not outstanding. Medium-high throw.
Blocking: Effective blocking capabilities.
Spin Sensitivity: Less sensitive to incoming spin compared to rubbers with high spin ratings like T05 and Barracuda.
Ideal Use: Suitable for backhand play, particularly for blocking, countering, and flat hitting.
The best rubber I have ever used until today is the Blue P2, which I used for the first time.
The speed of the S1 is fantastic, and the angle is very good. However, the control is not so good. You have to play for some time to get used to it. But once you have played for a while, the S1 is fantastic.
I use this rubber on my backhand. It offers good control and spin. The speed is not exceptional, but it is sufficient for my playing style.
Good control and well-designed rubber for all purposes and styles. Another classic rubber after the F1.
I used this rubber for a year on my forehand in MAX thickness on a Timo Boll Forte. It is a fast rubber, faster than S2, but not as fast as S1 Turbo.
To me, it seems that it is not as spinny as S2 and S1T. It is slightly lighter than the S1T.
The durability of this rubber is pretty impressive. It is a very good rubber for a close to the table - mid distance looper.
Above Average Characteristics: Capable of generating spin and delivering powerful smashes for championship-level play.
I needed one or two weeks to adapt my blocks and topspins. After this time, I felt this rubber was very fast and had an excellent top arc for middle and far from the table play. Close to the table play was a little difficult to control.
Now I use M1, which is more controllable with the same speed. For me, M1 is better.
Fast, Fast, Fast!
This rubber offers exceptional speed, making it ideal for dynamic backhand rallies common in modern table tennis. It provides excellent control, allowing for precise placement of shots. However, it has limited spin potential. Consider the S2 or S3 variants if spin is a priority.
For players who prioritize power and speed, this rubber stands out. It excels in smashes and loops, offering an impressive combination of speed and control. It is particularly well-suited for those in the early stages of their table tennis journey.
I’ve been trying it out on my FH. The results have been great - it’s an excellent rubber for both FH and BH. Loops can be made very easily, but only if your footwork and rubber contact are good. When done correctly, loops are very spiny and fast. I would definitely recommend this rubber, but not to beginners. All in all, it’s a great rubber.
I am a great fan of Acuda S2 and thought to try out the S1 too, hoping for the same great rubber with a little more gears. However, this rubber proved to be disappointing. Speed is the only thing that this rubber seems to have. Spin is not enough for the speed, making it hard to control. I love to loop, but this rubber makes things a lot more difficult, with many of my shots going off the table.
Control is not good enough for me, not even on smashes. Even blocking is a bit difficult as the throw is a bit higher than the S2. Overall, this rubber is only suitable for a good hard-hitter who can find it to their liking. More speed, less of everything else.
What a great rubber for any player that is offensive! It’s really fast and springy—perfect for counter looping and underspin-loops. Just a little bit better than Tenergy. Get it!
At first when you try it you might not like it, but you have to stick with it. Then after two weeks, it will seem like the best rubber ever!
GOOD RUBBER, MEDIUM FEELING, GOOD SPIN AND SPEED.
S1 is quite fast and easy to control. As mentioned in the package, it is suitable for players with a closed table style. The only issue I found was that it lacked spin. Sometimes when I returned a backspin serve, it was difficult to control, giving my opponent an opportunity to attack.
On a stiff blade, it plays great at mid-distance, making it easy to smash or loop the ball. However, at the table, it’s a bit hard to control, and plenty of balls go off the back end.
It’s not that fast, but it produces powerful drives and loops. It’s also easy to block with and handle incoming serves. Outlaw, on the same blade, was much faster at the table either FH or BH, but Acuda was much better at mid-distance, even exceptional.
Wow, firstly this is the best rubber that I ever had. It makes my top spin more fast and more aggressive, even at my backhand top spin (more difficult than my forehand).
But, it has less control at the feeling of the ball (my present blade is Bty Schlager Carbon hehe).
Overall, I’m very enjoy at every single shot with this rubber…
I put a new sheet of Tenergy 05 (2.1) and Acuda S1 (max) on a Waldner Senso Carbon for comparison.
I agree with the other reviewers. I think the speed on AS1 is slightly slower than new T05, and the throw/spin is like T05 after 2-3 months of regular use.
For my backhand, I prefer AS1’s control, lighter weight, and overall behavior over T05/64.
I’m not sure about converting for forehand though. I’ll test AS1 further to see if its merits can break my addiction to the expensive T05. Its durability will also be a factor.
I purchased AS1 for about $36 shipped from ttnpp.com. Since they’re in Hong Kong, delivery takes about 1-2 weeks.
Some places list the AS1 max sponge as 2.5, which is incorrect. I measured it and found it to be the same as T05, approximately 2.1-2.2.
The best tensor for FH play (yet to try Palio Thors). Very powerful, and faster than tenergy with slightly lower spin; but delivers more punch in power loops.
In spite of completely non tacky topsheet, it lifts backspin very well…and shows very predictable curve across all spedd ranges.
HOWEVER… the topsheet loses grip very soon… which i can easily bring back to original by a layer of paraffin oil or any other oil.
SUMMARY: it is a great FH rubber powerful, linear and accurate …but you must use oil on topsheet… or else balls will drop to net…
I like the top sheet of S1. It creates spin easily and fast speed is OK.
Coming from Tenergy 05 s1, Donic Acuda S1 is a lot lighter, not as fast, and has lower throw, but more control. I love this rubber. It went up from $55 to $65. I’m glad I decided to get it. It worked out great!
This rubber boasts exceptional speed. While it may not generate as much spin as T05, it compensates with a lower throw angle. This improved control makes blocking, hitting, service returns, and shots above the table effortless.
This is a very good rubber that is suitable for both backhand (BH) and forehand (FH) play. It generates great spin and offers decent control, making it a definite rival to the popular Tenergy rubber.
