Too soft for a plastic ball.
Poor control with lots of spin for that kind of “old” and non-tensor rubber.
Butterfly Tenergy 05 Review
As my first rubber, I was surprised by the amount of speed I could generate. People at my local TT club were amazed that I had one of the fastest shots in the place.
Creating spin is not always easy, but I was able to compensate for that with the flex of my blade (Allround Classic) and a more Chinese playing style, power from the ground and spin from the hip. Well controllable.
Sometimes you will hit over the table because you didn’t generate enough spin. Pushing is consistent, so was backspin in general. I am very happy with the way this rubber has performed. Good beginner rubber.
Tried a new sheet. Didn’t like it. It reminded me of a Chinese rubber because it has no power, and the ball falls on the net. It’s slow, but with poor spin. As someone told me, it’s only for beginners. Don’t waste your money.
Satisfying speed and good spininess are required for controlled rallies. It is fairly easy to put the ball at the end of the table. It can chop slow balls pretty accurately.
This rubber is good for backhand and adequate for forehand, although the latter could use something a bit faster. It is suitable for beginners and intermediate players.
This rubber is durable. It still grips the ball properly even after 6 months of heavy use (but no abuse) and counting.
This rubber offers good speed and control. However, if spin is your priority, you should avoid this one as it generates very little spin. Therefore, my advice is to reconsider spending your money on this rubber.
No spin, but fast. Even though it is fast, it is still good to control.
I use this on the backhand of my Clipper Wood and it worked well. However, I switched to the Gambler Outlaw Pre-Tune, which was way better in all areas and only costs $14. Try it; it’s very good. But I’m not knocking the Stiga; I love the Boost line.
I use this on my oversized backhand for offense, and it works wonders! The rubber provides a nice sound and feel, and it gives me great control over my shots.
The rubber is fast, spinny, has good control, is durable, and lightweight. It provides the top-end power and spin desired. While it could benefit from improved low gear, it remains passable.
When using Stiga Carbon glue, it creates a loud “click” that attracts attention. This clicking sound often leads people to believe that you are smashing the ball, when in reality, you are performing a soft return.
