Tibhar 5Q
Rubber description:
This is a tensor rubber designed as a versatile offensive option that balances speed, spin, and high levels of control. It features a medium-to-medium/hard sponge that provides an elastic feel, allowing for a good dwell time that facilitates heavy spin generation. The rubber is not tacky, relying instead on its mechanical grip to produce spin, which makes it effective for modern attacking techniques such as looping, flicking, and counter-topspin exchanges.
Playing Characteristics
- Spin and Speed: Offers a high spin potential, particularly effective for looping underspin and executing aggressive topspin strokes. While it provides good offensive speed, it is often noted for being more manageable and less “bouncy” than ultra-fast professional rubbers.
- Trajectory and Control: Characterized by a medium-to-high throw angle, the rubber produces a reliable arc that helps keep shots within the table boundaries. Its ability to dip the ball onto the table makes it highly predictable for offensive play.
- Versatility: Widely regarded as a premium choice for the backhand side due to its exceptional blocking stability, control, and reduced sensitivity to incoming opponent spin. It is also suitable for forehand use, especially on stiffer or carbon-based blades where the combination of the sponge and blade provides a balance of power and accuracy.
Practical Considerations
- Durability: The rubber is recognized for its longevity, often outlasting many comparable performance-oriented offensive rubbers.
- Setup Compatibility: Performance scales with blade selection; it pairs well with medium-speed all-wood blades for maximum control, while stiffer or carbon blades can be used to unlock its higher gear and power potential. It is generally recommended for intermediate to advanced players rather than beginners.

Quite fast, good control, and good topspin. For me, it’s good for the backhand.

I’m a developing player. This rubber has a lot of spin and safety. It has decent speed but not so much that the ball flies off. It’s easy to put the ball on the table with this rubber.
I think it’s listed as a medium-hard rubber, but I’d say it’s actually medium.
I would recommend this as a backhand rubber due to the good blocking control, higher than average arc, and spininess.
If you find the harder Tibhar evolution rubbers and Butterfly tenergies too fast, this is a great alternative.
