Xiom Jekyll & Hyde V47.5
Rubber description:
Performance Characteristics
This is a tensor rubber designed for offensive players who prioritize linear performance and power. It features a firm sponge that requires active engagement through proper technique and body acceleration to reach its full potential. The rubber is characterized by a low to medium-low throw angle, resulting in a flat trajectory that favors aggressive drives and precise, high-speed hitting.
Spin and Control
While the topsheet provides a reliable grip for loops and flicks, the rubber’s spin generation is highly dependent on sponge penetration rather than grazing the ball. This makes it less sensitive to incoming spin, which is a notable advantage during active blocking and flat-hitting exchanges. Players should be prepared for a learning curve, as the rubber requires consistent forward movement—passive strokes or a lack of commitment may cause the ball to drop into the net.
Physical Attributes
- Weight: This is a heavy rubber, with uncut sheets typically weighing around 72 grams.
- Tactile Feel: The surface is slightly tacky, offering a balance between grip and speed.
- Playstyle: Most effective for players who utilize arm and body acceleration. It is well-suited for backhand play, particularly for flat-hitting, punching, and aggressive flicking over the table. It is less recommended for those relying primarily on high-arc looping or delicate, low-effort serves.

Using this rubber V47.5 with the Viscaria, I found it is not 47.5 degrees… it is the hardest rubber I have. I do not have a measurement tool, but in touch, using fingers and during playing, I can say it is even harder than MXP-50 I have… Because the rubber is hard, it is very difficult to make a spin… Twice less spin than comes from a regular rubber. You need to hit hard to make more spin. I gave it to try my colleague, who has 1800 scores rating. He tried to make a serve and told me it was hard rubber, twice less spin. So, I’m not sure how Xiom made this rubber 47.5, but it is harder than 50 degrees for sure, in my opinion. It is not tacky at all. It is not spin-sensitive. This rubber is for hard hitters, not for beginners or intermediate players, I would say. About the speed. It is fast, I can’t say crazy fast, but you’ll get speed if you hit hard. This rubber is possible to put on a soft and slow racket, like ALL, OFF-, maybe it is better, will be softer feeling, because in pair with the Viscaria it is hard. It is a good rubber for hitting from 2nd zone. It is precise, powerful, accurate, with a low arc, but requires work every time. If you want something good from Xiom, try Xiom X. It is fast, spinny, with control, not for beginners and for sure… For beginners Xiom DF,. For intermediate players Asia, Europe, etc.
