Xiom Omega V Euro

Xiom Omega V Euro - packageXiom Omega V Euro - sponge

Rubber description:

The Xiom Omega V Europe is a high-performance tensor rubber designed for offensive play. It features a medium-hardness sponge paired with a firm, non-tacky topsheet. While many users describe it as having a “medium” feel rather than truly soft, it provides a consistent, linear response across various distances from the table.

Playing Characteristics

  • Spin and Speed: This rubber is highly capable of generating significant spin, particularly when the player properly engages the sponge through active brushing motions. It offers a balanced ratio of speed and spin, making it effective for loop drives, counter-looping, and offensive rallies.
  • Control and Feel: A standout feature of this rubber is its relative insensitivity to incoming spin, which simplifies serve reception, flicking, and blocking. It offers a noticeable “dwell time” that allows the ball to sink into the sponge, providing a crisp, solid feeling that enhances placement and touch.
  • Throw Angle and Arc: It possesses a medium-to-high throw angle, which assists in clearing the net during topspin loops and opening shots against backspin.
  • Versatility: Suitable for both forehand and backhand, it is frequently favored for backhand play due to its reliability in blocking and flicking. It performs well across a variety of blades, including composite and all-wood constructions, and is noted for maintaining its performance characteristics consistently over time.

Performance Notes

Players should be aware that the rubber may require a brief “break-in” period of several hours of play to reach its optimal bounciness and speed. While it excels at controlled, spinny attacking play, it is generally considered a balanced “all-around offensive” tool rather than a purely specialized “killer” rubber. It is a heavier-than-average rubber, a factor that should be considered when pairing it with heavy blades.

I think this is a kind of old rubber. It shrinks a lot when you take it off, with not a lot of speed and spin. Pretty safe nice arc over the net, works well with ZLC, Zexion, Super PBOC, etc. Also works well with hinoki blades. An all-around rubber, nothing special. A few years ago I was impressed by it, but now there are better choices, even from Xiom. Expensive for what it offers. Good luck!

I installed this Omega V Europe on the backhand, and I had Xiom Europe before; I find this rubber performed better than the Xiom Europe, although not by much but as I ordered Max with rubber and I find the returning spin is more powerful than the Xiom Europe, and as for control, I find it quite satisfying. I am very happy with this purchase.

Blocks: Excellent
Drives: Pretty good
Counters: Insanely good and insensitive to spin
Looping: Good
Powerlooping: Not good, tends to dump in the net; requires brushing and hitting in the same stroke for power and spin.
Serve/Receive: Mediocre
Opening: Easy when brushing the topsheet only.

Overall, this rubber is average for players who want to set up for a shot on the other side of the racket or counter for the win. Counterlooping and topspinning fast and powerfully are not its strengths, but it offers good spin and countering capabilities.
