Xiom Vega Asia
Rubber description:
Characteristics
The Xiom Vega Asia is a high-performance tensor rubber designed primarily for offensive play. It features a soft, grippy, and non-tacky topsheet paired with a medium-hard “carbo sponge,” resulting in a crisp, energetic feel. The rubber is known for its linear performance, where the speed and output accurately reflect the input force applied by the player.
Performance and Playability
- Speed and Attack: The rubber excels at drives, smashes, and aggressive counter-looping. It is highly effective for close-to-the-table play, offering significant power and a characteristic “cracking” sound upon impact.
- Spin: While it is capable of producing heavy spin, it is generally considered less spin-oriented than some other rubbers in the Vega series. It is highly effective at absorbing and redirecting incoming spin, making it a reliable choice for active blocking and flicking.
- Control and Dwell: The soft topsheet provides a good “ball-grabbing” sensation, which aids in control. Despite its speed, it remains manageable for pushes and tactical shots, provided the player has a developed technique.
- Throw Angle: Feedback regarding the throw angle varies between medium-low and medium-high, depending on the blade and the speed of the stroke; however, it is generally considered conducive to an offensive, direct style of play.
Practical Considerations
- Durability: The rubber is widely regarded for its longevity and resistance to chipping compared to softer alternatives in its class.
- Adjustment: Due to its high-tension nature, the rubber may require an adjustment period for players transitioning from slower, non-tensor equipment.
- Application: It is frequently recommended as a backhand solution for its flicking and blocking capabilities, though many players also find it suitable for a fast, direct forehand attack. Note that once applied, the rubber can be difficult to remove and re-glue due to the nature of the carbo sponge.

Good speed, spin, throw angle (med-low), and weight (light). Good for a control game with excellent speed for killing shots. The side effect of a soft and supple topsheet is that it falls apart easily. The sponge also rips easily upon impact with the table edge/corner and upon removal from the blade.

If you need a rubber that requires high topspin control even in tough positions, this rubber will give you that high energy absorption. Don’t hesitate to go passive as it will throw the energy back. Just make sure to break the rubber in since the first 10 hours may be a little sticky.

I may not claim to be an expert, but the rubber seemed unclear to me.
Thank you Tabletennis 11 for the quality service.
