Xiom Omega IV Asia
Rubber description:
Characteristics and Performance
The Xiom Omega IV Asia is a Tensor rubber known for its aggressive offensive capabilities, particularly when paired with stiff or carbon-based blades. It features a hard, fine-pored sponge that provides significant power and speed during high-intensity play, such as drive looping and power loops. While it is highly capable in offensive exchanges, the rubber remains controllable during passive play, such as blocking or soft pushes, due to a moderate, predictable catapult effect.
Spin, Dwell, and Throw Angle
- Spin and Grip: The topsheet offers high-level grip, allowing for heavy spin on serves and brush loops. While some users describe the surface as having slight tackiness, it functions primarily as a high-friction offensive rubber.
- Throw Angle: It generally features a mid-to-low throw angle, which helps in keeping shots flat and aggressive, making it particularly effective for backhand drives and blocks.
- Dwell Time: The combination of a hard sponge and high-friction topsheet requires a deliberate, firm contact to engage the sponge. Once engaged, it provides a stable feel that allows players to guide the ball with precision.
Usage Recommendations
- Playing Style: This rubber is well-suited for all-in attackers who rely on speed and heavy spin near the table, though it retains sufficient performance for mid-distance rallies. It is frequently cited as a preferred option for backhand blocking and aggressive driving due to its ability to maintain a low ball trajectory.
- Maintenance Note: The topsheet benefits from a break-in period of approximately one week. Users should be aware that the surface is prone to collecting dust and requires regular cleaning to maintain its full grip potential.
- Compatibility: Performance is most consistent on stiffer blades; softer blades may result in a feel that is too soft for players accustomed to the intended, more direct feedback of the hard sponge.

Good rubber, but not excellent. It is quite tacky, reminding me of Dignics 09c, but a little faster and less tacky, which is better for me. It is quite hard but not that fast due to its tackiness. It has very high control, suitable for players who prefer longer dwell time due to its tackiness. It is not a fast rubber, definitely slower and more controllable than Rasanter R45. It has a medium throw. It needs to be cleaned more often than usual because it tends to stick a lot of dust. The black version in 2 mm weighs about 45 grams when cut on a standard blade.

Good for spin and control.

It is a very good rubber for forehand. The throw angle of this rubber is lower than Omega 5 Asia and Omega 7 Asia, and the sponge is the softest among all the Omega Asia rubbers. If it suits you, then it is a good rubber. I couldn’t quite get used to it, though, even if I switched only from Omega 5 Asia.
