The Xiom Omega VII Tour rubber is an exceptional choice for advanced players looking for a high-performance option in their table tennis arsenal. This rubber is recognized for its outstanding speed rating of 97 and impressive spin capabilities with a score of 98, making it a dominant choice for aggressive attackers who rely on powerful, spin-heavy shots to outmaneuver their opponents. With its high gear ratio of 9.1, players can expect a dynamic response that enables them to execute a wide range of strokes efficiently.
In terms of tackiness, the Omega VII Tour is rated at 2, placing it at a level that balances between being grippy enough for spin generation while still allowing for effective ball control. The rubber has a soft yet supportive feeling due to its sponge hardness of 8.8. This makes it suitable for players who enjoy a medium weight rubber, weighing in at 7.4, which provides a great balance of speed without compromising on control.
Durability is one of the standout features of the Xiom Omega VII Tour, with a durability rating of 8.3, ensuring that this rubber can withstand the rigors of intense play while maintaining its performance characteristics over time. Players may also consider other options like the Xiom Omega VII Pro or various versions of Tenergy for different styles of play, but Omega VII Tour excels in providing an overall score of 9.2, ranking highly for its consistency and performance reliability. Whether playing close to the table or from a distance, this rubber provides the control necessary for tactical gameplay, making it an excellent investment for serious competitors.
I bought this rubber a few weeks ago, and I must say it is very fast. In fact, it is too fast for me.
Moving forward with it is okay; I can loop or topspin quite comfortably, and the spinny serves are also very good. However, I am having trouble with blocking and smashing the ball, which are big parts of my game.
I find the whole experience rather frustrating, and I will be changing to other rubbers very soon.
This rubber taught me how to loop. It has an extremely impressive amount of grip, despite being non-tacky and very hard. The ball seems to sink into the rubber and just stay there.
Offensive strokes feel like you’re dragging the ball the whole way. While the rubber is very fast, it feels like there is little to no catapult effect; slow swings produce slow balls, unlike most tension rubbers where the ball sometimes seems to rocket off.
My main gripe with this rubber is that it is comparatively more difficult to produce heavy pushes and serves. You need very high acceleration and very thin contact to achieve the desired effect. Because of this, I would definitely not recommend this rubber for beginners.
All the same, it is an absolute joy to play with and can be deadly in the right hands.
This rubber is not recommended for beginners. It is fast and requires a solid technique, skills, and a good touch. No mistakes can be forgiven. While it is not very sensitive to incoming spins, there is sufficient tackiness to produce a good amount of spin.
The beauty of this rubber is most evident during the third ball attack, whether on forehands or backhands, and executing these shots is always easy. The control offered is acceptable, instilling confidence during receives and blocks. Counterattacking is another fantastic feature of this rubber. Even hitting the ball before it has a chance to rise is comfortable and enjoyable.
I have it paired with my DHS Fang Bo B2 blade, which provides good feel, flexibility, and speed. Before this, I used MXP for both forehand and backhand on my blade. This rubber feels much faster than MXP, with an almost similar throw angle. I definitely want to keep this combination and recommend it to anyone who prefers less dwell time and the speed of a rocket.
