All-wood
This ordinary wooden blade offers low speed without control, making it a suitable choice for beginners.
The blade has a soft touch with a crisp feeling. It produces little vibrations, which are not unpleasant. It is very controllable despite its fast speed. In my opinion, the Wanokiwami is an easy-to-play blade. Its crazy spin trajectory is certainly accurate. It offers linear speed and a medium throw. It works well with medium-hard to hard rubbers. This is one of the best blades produced by Andro.
Ignore comments from user anandkeshav. It is not as slow as that user indicated. It’s worth noting they have reviewed no other items, so their opinion should be taken with a grain of salt.
The blade is on the fast side of OFF-, or may be seen by some as OFF, depending on what you’re comparing it to. Its speed is similar to the TSPW or Nittaku S-5, around ‘9’. I only rated it 10 in the stats so the overall rating rose from 8.7, which I believe is too slow.
Throw angle and dwell make for a great looping blade, with a soft balsa feel and sound. Although it sounds like balsa with rubbers glued on and hitting balls, the middle ply is not balsa.
It has a somewhat high pitch when bouncing the ball directly onto the naked blade, which indicates its relatively fast speed for a 5 ply wood. It has plenty of power available even at distance and loops backspin balls well.
I agree with ttandi, the blade is finished very well, with a very comfortable handle and overall feel.
The blade offers a fantastic finish, handle, and control. It’s not too fast, but it’s mostly fast enough. Give it a try, and you’ll become a fan too.
Upgrading from Butterfly Grubba after almost a year playing with it, the build quality feels top-notch at first hold. The ergonomic thumb pad is a significant advantage for me. In addition to comfort, I believe it enhances the overall feel of this blade, which in turn improves my control.
Returning to basics with a pair of Mark V combo, power is delivered linearly. The more power you give, the more speed (and spin!!) you’ll get. It’s definitely worth the price for me.
This blade is definitely overrated and overpriced. It is much slower than the TSP Balsa 4.5. Furthermore, the handle is slippery.
I have tried this blade with Yasaka Rakza 7 soft and Joola Energy Green Power rubbers. It is definitely a slow blade.
Easily the best blade for control and crazy spin trajectory.
I’m an intermediate level player. With this blade, I have achieved results. In both attack and defense, I have been able to make more consistent rallies.
It has good speed. The control is excellent. It works well either near or half distance.
This wood offers incredible control and a unique spin trajectory. It generates a lot of spin effortlessly, with consistency rated at 10/10.
For a five-ply wood, it possesses exceptional speed, easily executing strong spin shots from 2-3 meters away from the table. The short game is also outstanding.
My setup includes Dignics 09C on the forehand and Donic Piranja OX on the backhand. It allows me to consistently land a large number of balls on the table. Highly recommended!
Nice blade with reasonable power and very good control. Top-class finish.
I have small hands and found the handle even smaller than an Acoustic standard. Hence, I sold it because I don’t like using grip tape to make it bigger.
Premium workmanship.
The blade has a lot of control and decent speed. The handle is thin, but the wings are too wide.
Not so good for small hands (like mine) despite the thin handle. Very good, but not perfect.
Hi,
I also bought the Andro Wanokiwami REN. I am 33 years old and have played amateur table tennis since the 5th grade.
In 2016, I bought a Joola Rosskopf Emotion with FH Joola Rhyzm Tech and BH Victas 401. I had a lot of trouble controlling that blade and improving my style and technique. That setup was a total mistake. I thought table tennis was not for me anymore and quit for a couple of years.
At the end of 2020, with so many lockdowns locally, I thought I should give it another shot. I bought an all-wood, control-oriented ALL blade from Decathlon. I couldn’t believe the feeling and how well I positioned the ball on the table. Of course, I was still an amateur, and the more I played with that blade, I realized how slow it is versus custom blades. Then I realized I needed something faster but with the same control as the blade from Decathlon, and I bought this blade.
When 2021 started, I began training with a professional TT trainer twice per week, 1.5 hours per session, using this blade with FH Andro R42 and BH Victas Limber. I played with this blade for 10 sessions. The blade is amazing, but it is not as fast as the REN. I think the Andro R42 is slowing the blade a lot. I would go for Tibhar MX-P next time on FH for this blade.
I love it, but after I bought the REN with FH Evolution EL-P and BH Victas Limber, I fell in love with the REN. I play from time to time with this one, but my new favorite is the REN, so fast and with so much control, it’s unbelievable.
I am a big fan of all-wood blades from Japan from now on. I am still hesitant to try a new carbon blade. I have one, and for me, the control is horrible on that one. I can’t even train with the Joola Rosskopf.
I would rate this AO OFF a 9 and the REN a 9.5-9.8. I put more effort into the AO versus the REN when shooting a ball. With the REN, everything is easier and more seamless. With the AO, I have to use a lot of power from my body in order to hit it fast.
To conclude, it’s a very robust blade. I love it. If you want speed for FH, I suppose I would go with 45-47 degree rubbers, unless you use Butterfly rubbers. I’m not sure about those.
High-quality blade with a balsa-ish feel and sound.
High control and great for looping with good dwell time.
I would call it a fast OFF-, or a solid OFF, as it’s a fast, all-wood blade.
The product is well manufactured, and the blade surface is finished appropriately.
For the forehand, I am using a Tibhar gluing sheet, and the blade surface is handling this aspect without any defects.
High dwell time and loads of spin allow for enough speed with long strokes and flat kills. However, the center ply is delicate. Overall, this is a great blade.
