The Nittaku Arrester table tennis blade is a 5-ply all-wood blade designed for intermediate to advanced players seeking a balance of speed, control, and spin. It features a Koto outer ply, which provides a crisp and responsive feel, while the inner plies of Ayous and Kiri offer stability and control.
The Arrester is renowned for its excellent spin generation, allowing players to create sharp and deceptive shots. Its slightly thicker core (6.1mm) adds to its power and stiffness, making it suitable for aggressive topspin play.
Forum reviews praise the Arrester's versatility, with many users noting its ability to handle both fast loops and precise touch shots. It is particularly well-suited for players who prefer a slightly slower blade with good dwell time, allowing them to develop a more controlled and consistent game.
Overall, the Nittaku Arrester is an exceptional blade for players seeking a balance of speed, spin, and control. Its all-wood construction provides a classic feel, while its carefully chosen materials and design enhance its performance in various playing styles.
First of all, the workmanship is great, similar to Nittaku.
I paired the blade with Super Do Knuckle on the backhand and Glayzer 09c on the forehand. With this combination, the blade offers a lot of control and safety, as it is quite slow on its own.
I’m sure that if paired with a faster rubber on the forehand side, outright winners can be achieved more easily.
If you are looking for an excellent defensive blade, this might just be it.
I play modern defense. My current setup is Tibhar ELP 1.5 FH and Sauer & Troger Monkey 0.6 BH.
Out of the many blades I’ve tried (including JSH, Diode V, all Matsushita’s, CWX, Li Qian, Petr Korbel, and others), this is the one with more character and suitable gears for a modern defensive game, in my opinion. The blade is light with a medium-enlarged head and a slightly bigger than standard Nittaku FL handle.
The control is outstanding, both close to and away from the table. The feeling is very flexible and soft, but with plenty of power for counter-attacking flat or looped balls from a distance. The composition brings the best of defensive and offensive capabilities, allowing you to push, chop, and attack at any distance with ease.
Blade construction quality is exceptional, as expected from Nittaku.
