Yasaka Sweden Classic
Reviews
#2 — May 2025
Excellent control. This blade is very light.
#3 — December 2024
Nice blade for a beginner kid.
#4 — October 2024
I bought this blade as an alternative to the Stiga Allround Classic, which was out of stock at the time. I have to say, the Stiga Allround Classic is much better, but it’s also more expensive.
This blade has a nice feel and is good for amateur players, especially when starting with slower rubbers like Tibhar Sinus. It can also handle faster rubbers like Donic Baracuda or even faster tensors.
I prioritize feel over speed, so I find this blade quite enjoyable with fast rubbers. It also suits modern defense styles well when paired with long pimples. I tried it with a Tibhar Sinus on the forehand and Butterfly Feint Long II on the backhand and found it to be a really good combination for modern defense.
#5 — July 2024
Good blade for beginners and all-around players.
#6 — July 2024
Good choice for a beginner.
#7 — March 2024
A good classic, versatile blade that allows you to execute almost any type of shot with both good control and speed. If you’re unsure what you want, you can’t go wrong with this one.
#8 — January 2024
Good control.
#9 — November 2023
Easy to handle for a beginner or intermediate player, this blade provides clear feedback with a more dampened feel than the comparable Donic Appelgren Allplay.
Chops and other backspin balls can be placed with great feeling. However, the somewhat small flared handle makes flicking easy but doesn’t provide much to hold onto for bigger hands.
The fit and finish are excellent.
#10 — April 2023
I bought this blade after reading all the great reviews here, and I couldn’t be more satisfied. It gave me a lot of confidence to execute many variations of shots and spin.
My setup is as follows:
BH side: Yasaka Rakza 7 (Max Thickness)
FH side: Andro Rasanter R45 (Max Thickness)
#11 — April 2023
Just a good and inexpensive blade for table tennis enthusiasts.
#12 — September 2022
The blade suits very technical all-around players. It facilitates a slow yet high-rotation style of gameplay. It’s also a good option for young players just starting out. However, for most others, it might prove too slow, soft, and flexible, and may cause problems with acceleration.
#13 — January 2022
Excellent blade for beginners.
#14 — April 2021
For beginners, I don’t know of anything better.
#15 — March 2021
The ball feeling is gorgeous, offering a flexible and soft touch. The flexibility enhances the catapult effect, providing a noticeable boost in speed.
When paired with rubbers like Rasanter R47, you’ll achieve ample speed for offensive play.
The only drawback is blocking. Due to the blade’s flexibility and softness, blocking requires a more assertive, firm press.
The straight handle is very comfortable, well-sized (not too thin), and fits securely in the hand.
#16 — January 2021
This racket is a good choice for a hard bat.
#17 — October 2020
Great blade, especially for beginners and intermediate players.
Before, I used a Butterfly Innerforce Layer ALC, and it was too fast for me. This blade is great, and it comes at a great price.
#18 — June 2020
The ball feeling with Yasaka blades is unmatched. This blade is perfect for beginners with a defense/all-round mindset. Chops are very good, blocks are amazing, but it’s also good for learning any other stroke. Highly recommended.
#19 — February 2020
I recommend the Lemn Original.
#20 — December 2019
The blade is good for blocking.
#21 — November 2019
A great blade for players of various levels.
#22 — September 2019
This blade excels at generating loop spin.
It offers excellent control for returning serves with heavy spin.
Additionally, it performs admirably when blocking loops.
While not a fast blade, which was my specific preference, pairing it with a semi-fast rubber provides quite acceptable speed.
#23 — July 2019
This is a great blade for an all-around game, especially for topspin close to the table. It gives a lot of confidence, allowing you to make a full stroke.
I really like the vibrations of this blade and the feedback you receive when hitting the ball. If you hit it right, the ball goes exactly where you want it to. If you hit it wrong or without power, you’ll notice immediately, making it great for developing your technique.
It is less forgiving than a carbon blade, and while the handle is really comfortable, it might need some sanding. It is also a lightweight blade. The only issue I have is blocking, because it’s a flexible blade. Blocking powerful shots consistently is difficult, but just needs more training.
In short, recommended! PS: When you compare this blade to others of the same cost, the quality is remarkable!
#24 — June 2019
This is a very well-made blade that allows you to play with greater awareness of your strokes.
It provides dwell time and feedback without being overly slow, making it good for identifying technique errors.
#25 — March 2019
Quite controllable for a player like me. Meaning, you can put a lot into the stroke and it turns out fast and controlled. It’s silly that I used to use OFF. Although I’m a candidate for master of sports, I feel much more confident with an Allround racket.
Advice for those over 30 with less than 5 years of experience: feel free to use Allround series rackets.
#26 — December 2018
I purchased this blade as part of my first custom racket, paired with two Musa 3 rubbers, and the overall feel is amazing. I have a much better sense of the ball, which really helps me learn techniques faster and place my shots more precisely.
The feeling I get when I execute a really good forehand loop is incredibly addictive. I hope to improve so that every loop feels this way!
#27 — December 2018
This blade excels in both chopping and counter-attacking styles, offering excellent control and a great feel.
I use Friendship 755 rubber on the backhand and Xiom Sigma Europe on the forehand. The blade features a very nice design and is quite affordable.
#28 — October 2018
A good blade, offering an excellent blend of control and speed. Suitable for all-around play. Very attractive price.
#29 — September 2018
Great feel without excessive vibration or the “pongy” feel you get with most allround wood blades.
The handle is perfectly sized, not too thin. The wings are pretty sharp, but can be easily sanded down.
#30 — August 2018
Review:
The head size is a standard 157x150mm. The grip is good even without an over-grip, and the straight (ST) handle is comfortable, even for larger hands. The blade weighs 86 grams.
I recommend this blade for beginners. I purchased it for a work colleague, and he is very happy with it.
I paired it with two Mercury II rubbers and tested it briefly before giving it to him. I was quite pleased with the combination. It’s a very honest all-around (ALL) blade!
#31 — May 2018
I played with the older model owned by my friend, and this new model feels more like an OFF- blade, contrary to other people’s opinions that it’s an ALL blade. This perception also depends on the rubbers used.
T05 and T08 feel stiff on this blade, while Mark V feels a little soft. I was looking for an all-around blade, but this isn’t it.
In my opinion, the older model paired with Donic Bluefire M1 is a great combination, which makes me believe the older version might be better for me.
#32 — January 2018
I love the Sweden Classic. It’s slow with outstanding control. Loops are spinny and can be fast if you use your body and make the right contact. But you also get great placement and a lot of safety on blocks.
If you want the real all-wood feel and can generate your own pace, then this is a great blade to choose. I prefer it to similar Donic or Stiga allround blades on both playing characteristics and price.
These Yasaka blades also have a rectangular ST handle shape that I really like.
And for less than $30, the value is amazing. Workmanship is perfect.
#33 — December 2017
Very good blade for beginners and players with little experience. It offers excellent control, but it is slower. The anatomic handle provides a comfortable grip.
#34 — August 2017
I glued this blade together with DHS G666 on the forehand and Friendship 729 FX on the backhand.
The combination is a bit slow on the backhand, but it gives perfect control and spin. Highly recommended for beginners looking for an all-round blade.
#35 — August 2017
Good blade.
#36 — June 2017
This blade feels good and comfortable in the hand, but it’s a bit slow. For those who are used to playing with offensive (OFF) blades, this will feel slow.
#37 — January 2017
The blade offers very good control, making it easy to land the ball on the table. Short touches are quite easy to execute, and overall, all strokes feel fine.
However, it lacks speed for an offensive game. While it may be okay for spin shots two steps away from the table, it’s a bit difficult to open against backspin or engage in counter-spin rallies.
I rate this blade as an all-around blade. It can be used for defense and training for beginners, but not much beyond that.
The build quality is nice, and I recommend this blade for players who want more control than what offensive blades typically offer.
#38 — December 2016
I am an offensive player, and this paddle has enough speed for me. I will be trying Revspin on it soon.
#39 — September 2016
I am currently using the YSC New blade that I purchased from tabletennis11.com, and I am very happy with it.
I will definitely be making future purchases from this shop.
#40 — June 2016
One of the best blades for beginner players who begin with Chinese rubber. It is very easy for looping from close and mid-distance from the table. The AN handle is very comfortable, especially for those with small hands. The blade provides good feedback.
Size: 151×156mm, Thickness: 5mm. The outer veneer seems to be limba, but I cannot be sure about that with my limited knowledge about wood.
#41 — May 2016
The blade is an excellent choice for all-around players. Looping is effortless, and blocking is solid. It’s well-suited for beginners to intermediate players (up to 2200 rating). It effectively executes various shots within a short distance. Paired with fast rubber, it offers an exceptional combination.
The only drawback is the difficulty in looping from beyond 20 feet behind the table. While a loop drive is possible, a Power Drive lacks sufficient speed.
#42 — May 2016
Played with the new version from table tennis 11.
Great blade which allows for high spin and control but doesn’t lack speed if used with 2.0 or thicker rubbers.
Great for blocking and precision play but if you want an upgrade in speed I suggest Yasaka Sweden Extra because it is slightly stiffer so it is more directional.
Overall great blade for all plus to off minus players and works well with new plastic ball.
#43 — March 2016
Good choice for a beginner.
#44 — February 2016
One of the best all-around blades available, the Yasaka Sweden Extra is ideal for a wide range of players, from beginners to experienced control/defensive players. With a large ST grip, it offers a comfortable hold. While it lacks some power away from the table, this blade can become offensive with tensors with fine touch. It also makes a great pips/inverted combination for close-to-table play. The excellent build quality ensures durability and playability. It excels in looping close to mid-distance from the table.
The ST version has a great fat feel that balances heavier rubber sheets like Tenergys. After sealing the blade twice and using a glue effect rubber, it unlocks multiple gears for different players. With T05, it produces great spin and good speed, while with classic rubber, it’s slower and requires good stroke technique to produce power. The power-to-control ratio is exceptional, depending on the rubber selection.
Overall, this versatile blade is suitable for both beginners and advanced players. Some may consider it slow, but with the right rubber combination, it can provide impressive speed. It’s not strictly a defensive blade, but with appropriate rubber, it can fulfill that role effectively. The outer layer ply wood selection may affect its performance with OX pips out.
#45 — December 2015
This blade, as its name suggests, is a classic, offering a balanced combination of control, spin, and power.
It is recommended for players who are looking to develop a wider range of skills.
#46 — December 2015
This is a great blade at a great price.
It offers very good control with lots of dwell.
#47 — November 2015
Great feel for the ball, making it excellent for traditional rubbers. It’s particularly well-suited for practicing loops.
#48 — June 2015
Really good in ST for twiddling with a heavier rubber and light long pips, the balance is just perfect for that. Very controllable.
#49 — May 2014
Great blade. Everything written above is totally confirmed.
The handle (I have anatomic) makes wrist movements more effective. Those who have huge hands may not appreciate it.
#50 — March 2014
Great blade for all-rounder (rather all-)!
#51 — March 2013
Great all-round blade. Soft and flexible, this blade allows you to play any style you want. Its regular size makes it slightly less effective for classical defense, but it still performs very well. I have tested it with various rubbers:
-
Donic Baracuda: excellent spin with superb touch. It worked well close to the table but lacked power from mid-distance.
-
Tenergy 05: an excellent match. It offered great feel and speed (even in mid-distance - not explosive power but still capable of scoring points).
-
Globe 999 Nat: slow and unresponsive without speed glue, but performs very well with it (good speed - similar to Baracuda, excellent spin, high throw). I believe this could work as a forehand rubber for long pimple players.
-
Palio Thor’s: good close to the table but lacked speed in mid-distance. Thor’s is an effective rubber but requires an offensive blade for successful attacks.
#52 — May 2012
Very nice with a fast medium-hard rubber like Tenergy 05/Vega Pro.
#53 — September 2011
The best overall blade ever. I’ve been playing for several decades and always come back to this one. It’s a pure art.
#54 — August 2011
I use this blade with Andro Hexer 1.9 on the FH and Donic Akkadi L2 (0.5) on BH. The blade provides super control and super dwell time on FH loops. The soft feel of the blade allows you to create enormous spin on slow loops. It is light and the control is just amazing.
I have previously played with Andro’s ALL blade (Kinetic Supreme ALL). This blade has a softer touch and is lighter and cheaper. For me, it is great for all-round and defense play.
#55 — August 2009
Outstanding all-round blade in the all+ class. Great build quality. Straight handle is very comfortable and large in feel. Great for controlled looping and the near-table short game. Lacks power away from the table. I would highly recommend this blade or the BTY Primorac as a first custom racket for beginners or players who love control.
#56 — March 2009
A slow and very flexible blade, slower than the Stiga allround classic, gives good feedback and exceptional control.
It has very good construction with smooth edges and attention to detail, despite its low price.
The anatomic handle is relatively thin, but still comfortable.
Overall a great blade for beginners and players who value control and ball placement, while having the potential for huge spin generation with appropriate rubbers.
