Used this rubber quite a lot in the 2000’s on my backhand. Back in the day it was ultra light for a max rubber, 50-55g uncut. Lot’s of gears with great versatility, but it would start losing speed after a month, and be dead after 2.

I recently picked up a sheet on AliExpress for $12, which weights 70g uncut, the sponge is not how I remember it, and is way too heavy. I think the stuff on AliExpress is counterfeit, if I remember correctly this rubber went out of production around 2010.

Highly recommend you DO NOT BUY this rubber today!

Nice backhand rubber for defensive players. Provides good spin and great control.

Used for 110 hours on a Stiga Allround backhand, blocks and pushes are OK while speed and spin are lacking. More consistent than a short pip, but heavier at 39g glued. More durable and spin-sensitive than Focus III Snipe, which I prefer nevertheless as it has more spin at the same low speed and weight.

I put this rubber on my 7 ply all-wood blade. I was looking for controllability in every aspect, so I chose this rubber.

After several hours of playing, I believe this is a good choice for me. I was looking for a lightweight rubber with decent speed but good control, and this rubber has a medium-low throwing angle.

I will update this review with information on durability and any other aspects soon.

Buena goma.
Muy buen tacto.
Bien rápida.

Its a good rubber for a defender (in FH).
The throw angle is too low, always in net!
You must practice a lot with this rubber to play well.
VERY good for control after opponents’ hi-spin!

Is a nice def/all rubber for an average player…

This rubber is very light with a slightly tacky topsheet. It offers great control and decent speed with a 2.0mm sponge. However, it wears out fast and is not very spinny. Despite its drawbacks, this rubber is a good option for beginners.

This is my go-to backhand rubber. I don’t even consider anything else. The Ultra Light has everything I’ve ever wanted in a rubber, except maybe a little speed, but it never worries me.

It has great control, spin, durability, and it’s as light as it gets. The speed and feel get better with glue (although that’s been banned). Without regular gluing, it starts to feel a little dead (as does everything else), but is still one of the best offensive rubbers around. Give it a try, and you’ll always be happy with it.

Nittaku Fastarc P-1

  • Ultra light sponge that is very soft.

  • The sponge doesn’t give even close enough speed for a thin contact loop. On harder contact, the rubber often bottoms out.

  • Requires a position motion even on passive blocks, or the balls are likely to end in the net.

  • Fairly insensitive to incoming spin though, which would help with service returns.

  • This rubber was a serious looping machine in the glue days, but in the post glue era, there are much, much better options at half the price.
