Vega DEF black 2mm.

  • Uncut weight: 71g, comparable to modern rubbers.
  • Super hard sponge, grippy topsheet, similar to Victas VS>401.
  • The topsheet offers excellent traction.
  • Feels more elastic and less hard than VS>401 despite its hardness.

Comparison to VS>401:

  • Vega DEF is more powerful and user-friendly.
  • It lacks the inertness of VS>401.
  • Chopping is almost as easy as with VS>401.
  • Countering loops, fishing, and topspinning are more effortless.

Properties:

  • Unique rubber with a direct feel.
  • Allows for exceptional defensive shots.
  • Tensor rubber with impressive dynamism.
  • Comparable to a perfectly tuned H3 Neo, without the Chinese stickiness.

Update:

  • Vega DEF excels in chopping, offering consistent underspin and ease of execution.
  • Curious combination of defensive prowess and offensive potential.
  • Its dynamism is strikingly balanced.

Review of Table Tennis Rubber

This rubber boasts elasticity despite its ultra-hard sponge, making it highly playable. However, its considerable price and insufficiently grippy topsheet hinder its widespread adoption. Upgrades to the topsheet or a price reduction could potentially elevate this rubber to a formidable forehand weapon.

Curiously, the harder the ball is struck, the more spin it generates, diminishing the significance of technique. Even smashes exhibit significant downward弧度. This elastic hardness renders it the fastest and most powerful rubber I have encountered. Ma long loops are now effortless, even with inferior balls in challenging conditions. However, serving and brushing remain suboptimal, leaving me skeptical for the time being.

Avoid using this rubber for old school chopping defense, except at a distance from the table. Instead, opt for drives against hard incoming loops, which are returned with greater spin.

Originally categorized as a powerful all-round rubber, it now falls into the attacking rubber category.

Update:

With a price reduction, I have resumed playing with this rubber permanently. “Mega Death” aptly describes its devastating impact on opponents. Executed with proper form and physique, third loop drives can obliterate opponent blocks. Surprisingly, it is also capable of defense, although this aspect is often overlooked due to its overwhelming offensive prowess. This rubber excels in all aspects, warranting continued loyalty if it maintains its performance for the next four months.
