Xiom Omega V Pro

Rubber description:

Overview

The Xiom Omega V Pro is a high-performance tensor rubber designed for offensive players seeking a balance between power and technical control. It features a medium-hard sponge and a highly grippy, non-tacky topsheet. It is frequently noted for its versatility, working effectively on both the forehand and backhand sides for players ranging from intermediate to advanced levels.

Playing Characteristics

  • Speed and Power: The rubber possesses a pronounced catapult effect that engages during high-intensity strokes, such as smashes and power loops, allowing for explosive shots. Conversely, it remains composed at lower impact speeds, providing a “tame” feel during touch play.
  • Spin Potential: It offers exceptional grip, facilitating high levels of spin on serves and loops. The dwell time is generally considered generous, helping players dig into the ball to generate spin. It performs reliably when lifting heavy underspin, providing a secure arc.
  • Control and Dwell: A standout feature is its multi-gear nature; players can transition from delicate short-game shots to aggressive attacking loops without losing precision. It is notably less bouncy in the short game compared to some other popular professional tensors, offering improved confidence during blocking and service returns.
  • Throw Angle: The rubber generally exhibits a medium throw angle, which aids in a consistent, direct trajectory for attacking shots.

Handling and Build

  • Weight: This is a relatively heavy rubber, which may impact the overall balance of the setup depending on the blade used.
  • Adaptation: Users may require a short “break-in” period of a few training sessions to fully grasp the rubber’s behavior and maximize its performance.
  • Suitability: Due to its forgiving nature, it is a popular choice for those who value shot consistency and precision during offensive rallies. While it is highly capable in the mid-distance game, its controlled nature also makes it effective for play closer to the table.

I changed Nitaku p1 on my BH for this rubber. I needed more feeling on my BH to start BH topspin. I chose this rubber because I think it is softer but has a more springy sponge. I feel it is more difficult to receive serves and leave short balls, but it is really easy to dig the ball into the rubber and create really good spins. I love it for my BH. It’s a good quality rubber. Awesome product from Xiom.

This is a HOT rubber… Until you get dialed in, blocks will go long or into the net, but once you get it dialed in, it’s laser sharp and quick. My usual practice partner was getting frustrated by the extra spin and speed, until I told him I had new rubber… He’s catching up, but it’s a sharp, hot rubber. Still room to grow for me, and I’m really enjoying it.

Originally took it for the left side, but everything kept flying off the table, started playing with it on the right side, seems fine. Nothing special, the 4th generation has much “nastier” spin and arc.
