Spiny, fast rubber for the beginner-intermediate player!

#2 — April 2019

This rubber can surprise you depending on the type of blade you are using with it. It gets extremely fast with fast blades. I have gotten the best loops with this rubber as the type of spin it produces is much more than Boost TX on Hinoki Blade.

This rubber gets a good grip on the ball and is good for both FH and BH. I think it is important to make sure you clean your rubber and put a tacky protective sheet (I used Nittaku) so that the rubber does not lose its tackiness that helps to develop that grip.

One major problem with this rubber is when you take it off from your blade, then chances are that you will end up damaging the rubber because of the super soft sponge. The throw angle of this rubber is much higher than Boost TX, so you need to adjust your bat’s angle to make sure that the ball stays close to the net.

The sound of this rubber will surprise your opponent. For beginners, I suggest putting this rubber on a def or def+ blade.

However, one thing that really disappoints me about this rubber is that it is almost impossible to remove water-based glue from it without damaging the sponge. This rubber has the most fragile sponge compared to all the other rubbers I have ever tried.

Nowadays, we play with the Poly ball.

Should the rubber have some amount of tackiness?

Boost TS doesn’t have [the same tackiness] in comparison with the Mantra or Airoc.

Please comment.

Very good rubber, but recommended for a skilled player. It is precise and lightweight. Beginners or medium-level players should be cautious. Its speed is fast, almost like the Boost Tx. If you are not proficient and want to try it, get a heavier blade to reduce speed. Paired with a light and stiff blade, it is astonishing! The control is good, but the spin is medium.

Update: Recently installed on the Adidas C500, it seems to generate a great arc for forehand loops when making a full, not-too-fast arm movement. I also tried it on an old Stiga Alser Clipperwood FH again, which also worked well. It is a very intriguing rubber with character.

Been using this rubber for about 3 years. I started with it on a Yasaka Ma-Lin offensive but do NOT recommend this combination. Then I changed to a Stiga HyperTech CR 35/45, and that was wonderful to play with!

The only issue is that the rubber loses its tackiness after 4 months of playing (I play about 4 times a week). But changing rubber 3 times a year isn’t that bad.

Right now I’m still using Stiga Boost TS on my forehand but have swapped to KTL (LKT) Pro XT on my backhand. It provides wonderful control but is hard to open with.

I got this rubber on my forehand, and for my control spin Waldner-style, it’s a little bit too speedy for me. It throws the ball really well. Knowing that I was used to lifting the ball with a lot of difficulties (having a Joola 4You rubber 1.9mm), this is easier and more difficult. This rubber, in my opinion, is for Off- or Off. Now I think it doesn’t throw the ball too high.

Update

I have played with this rubber for some time now. And now I can tell that I can control it much better, and the rubber is perfect for attacking and even blocking forehand.

Much is said about this rubber, so there is no point going into details.

Beautiful connection between top sheet and sponge.

Superb backhand control rubber which is not easy to bottom out at all.

Great product from Stiga. Back in the day, Stiga was not all that great in producing rubbers, but nowadays, they are great.

Great control for a tensor rubber. The speed is fast. Mild and hard chops are deadly. Looping is very easy, with less effort applied on looping chops. Creates a loud “tok” sound when hitting hard topspins and drives. Using this on my backhand, max.

Those who claim this rubber is slow are mistaken. It is fast to very fast, particularly when used on a composite OFF blade such as BTY TBS or Photino.

It excels in explosive drives and loops. Its high catapult effect slightly compromises the short game. However, it offers good overall control and a medium throw.

The rubber generates excellent spin on serves and looping at all distances. Its speed is comparable to T64FX. It is lightweight when cut and boasts a very good glue effect from Stiga.

Durability is average or above, but using a film cover is recommended for optimal longevity.

I would not compare Boost TS with Tenergy because they are not so similar. Boost (whichever) has a very low angle (T: high), less spin. I had some problems on returning services (not with T), also did not feel so good on short to short.

I have been admiring J.O.Waldner, but not all players have his knowledge and “soft” hand - and the Boost rubbers do not forgive the errors.

Nevertheless, I agree this is a very good rubber - but not for anyone.

Great rubber; I used it in the forehand for a year.

It has good control, a cool sound, and great speed, although I prefer a faster rubber.

If you consistently hit the ball flatly, I do not recommend it because the sponge is very soft. That kind of power hit can cause serious damage to the rubber and reduce its lifespan.

One of the best rubbers I have used.

Review:

The rubber is beautiful, very fast, and provides great control. Topspins go precisely where you intend them to go. It has a slightly more direct feel than Tenergy 64, with topspins being a bit faster and less spinny but offering more control. The throw angle is lower. Overall, this is one of the best rubbers I’ve played with.

This is DA BOSS. Use it for forehand if you have an offensive blade but still want control on your forehand.

#16 — July 2011

Great sound (click), fast.

#17 — May 2011

Very fast when topspin applied!
Great catapult effect with a nice kick off the table!
Soft loop is easy but pushing and blocking is touchy because of the bounciness of this rubber.
Fun to play with!

Awesome rubber!

One of the best forehand rubbers I’ve used.

#19 — December 2010

The rubber produces a very wonderful sound. It offers more than good spin and fantastic control, resulting in a perfect playing experience.

This quality rubber can be used on both forehand and backhand.

It is actually a fourth-generation Butterfly Tenergy 05 rubber.

This means it’s a brilliant and remarkable rubber.

So, what are you waiting for?

#20 — December 2010

Fantastic speed, spin, control, and the amazing sound I’ve come to expect from Stiga (but I’m still amazed every time). Can’t wait to try a Calibra Sound. Works great in the mid-long distance game and doesn’t really give up too much in the short game (especially when matched up with a nice blade).

Needs to be broken in a little, but it kind of blows my mind that it can get better.

The sponge might be too soft for some people though, but it seems to match up perfectly to my style.

The Boost ST is a very good rubber. It offers excellent speed, incredibly good spin, and brilliant control. Overall, it’s a fantastic rubber.

#22 — August 2010

Hi there, people.

I play an all-around game. I mainly attack, but I have a strong chop that I use when necessary to win points at vital stages in the game.

Is the Boost TS a good all-around rubber?

#23 — August 2010

Glad to see people liking this rubber and think it plays well. Shows people can make different use of different materials.

For me, it didn’t play well. The sponge is ridiculously soft, lacking all power, giving momentum away.

The topsheet seemed to be of very good quality though. I was beating myself up for not getting top or tx instead…

#24 — August 2010

Such a good rubber. I play super attack and the amount of spin I can put on it is incredible. The speed is good too, with shots flying past people. I can’t believe the control either. It’s so easy to use, just perfect for my game. The sound is amazing as well! It sounds just like speed glue, which I loved. The sound helps my timing of the ball, and when I hear that crisp sweet noise, I know that ball ain’t coming back! Not a 10 because someone beat me while I was using it once.

#25 — March 2010

The rubber provides an amazing feeling of speed and control. It is one of the best rubbers available.

#26 — October 2009

Nice offensive rubber with good control in the short game.
