A lot better than Aurus Sound, with slightly more quality in shots and a bit more speed. However, the ball quality is still low and not deadly. Spin is alright, around 6/10 compared to H3N. Pairs best with carbon blades.
I have used the Auris Soft as a backhand (BH) rubber for almost two years. I play twice a week and use the Xiom Vega Pro as my blade and forehand (FH) rubber.
The Auris Soft rubber is very consistent and can open up backspin balls easily. You can also do easy blocks and control the ball well. The speed is fast once you hit the blade through the rubber, but if you rely on the rubber itself, the speed is slow and your opponent can block the ball easily.
I would say it is very good for beginner to medium level players because it can help you build a good feeling for the backhand opening and blocks. However, if you want very good quality balls or want more power from the rubber itself, it is not very good. I just bought a piece of Stiga Manstra M to replace it for my BH, hoping it can enhance the power and spin on my BH.
Great experience with this rubber. I’ve tried it on the backhand (BH) paired with a Nimbus Allwood blade. It was very easy to block and control the speed and spin of the ball from my opponents. Backhand flicks were effortless. Overall, it’s a nice rubber.
I would say it’s a good rubber for spin-oriented players. However, I still prefer the evolution series. It’s still worth a try though. There are many people out there who prefer this one.
Review for Spin-Oriented Players:
This rubber is a great choice for players who prioritize spin. It offers exceptional spin capabilities, making it ideal for those new to the game. However, it may lack the power needed for top-tier players. Despite this, many players appreciate its feel and spinny qualities.
Versatile All-Around Rubber:
This rubber boasts versatility, making it suitable for a wide range of playstyles. It provides a balance of spin, control, and power, making it a great option for players seeking an all-around solution.
Hi, I was playing Andro Hexer and Xiom Omega EU V on my stronger backhand. Those were really good rubbers and fit my playing style, which is backhand-flicking short serves with banana and smashing close to the table looping/driving with backhand when in mid/half mid-distance.
After an ankle injury, I am too slow to be in the right position to play my strokes, so I was making more unforced errors (the Katapult of these rubbers, which I liked, became too much to handle).
This is where I discovered Aurus soft. It plays very similarly to these rubbers, but it’s slower (sponge feels medium-soft) with less catapult effect due to the relatively hard topsheet. The throw angle is for such a soft sponge high, so it’s perfect for looping. The grippy firm topsheet bites the ball, so you have good dwell even on stiff blades, which reduces unforced errors.
Short play is really good because it’s not that bouncy (1.9 mm).
Players who like the forgiveness of softer sponges but don’t like the mushy feeling, this rubber may be an answer because of the firm topsheet, it provides a more direct feeling than most of the rubbers with similar medium to medium-soft sponge.
I would recommend this rubber to players looking for more control. It’s a perfect rubber to transmit from classic rubbers like Mark V to tensor or to just start playing and develop strokes. Because when driving, the ball gets a good amount of spin and speed, and with the control you get, you can outplay the opponent.
A teammate uses 2 layers of Falco long booted Palio Biotech 36°-38°, and Aurus soft plays like it with better spin potential and without having to boost.
I have purchased many soft and sound versions of this rubber with the same topsheet. However, as of October 2017, this rubber is as soft as the lightest Select Aurus Sound, and the topsheet feels much softer compared to other Aurus Sound and Soft versions I have played with.
I have since switched back to the 05FX, which consistently maintains its characteristics. I apologize to Tibhar for my experience. I tried this rubber on different blades, but unfortunately, it did not perform as expected this time.
Amazing rubber for beginners and intermediate players. I started out with this rubber, and it enhanced my game tremendously! The players in my club were astounded by how much I improved once I got this rubber. I played it on a Tibhar Killer Moonlight paddle.
Looping is great and easy. Serves produce great spin. I’m always taking points off of serves due to spin. The blade I played with is an all-. Now I am switching to an off- to speed up a little or actually kinda of a lot. But I am sticking with Aurus Soft. It can hang with the Tenergy or Evolution series all day long.
I use this rubber on my forehand, combined with the original Aurus and Timo Boll Spirit blade. It’s a great combination. This rubber comes with a softer sponge, so loops and topspins have a lot of spin. It also offers a wide range of shots and can even be used to play defensively. If you’re well-trained, you can play away from the table with minimal effort. Overall, it’s a great rubber for intermediate to advanced players.
The best backhand rubber I have ever tried! I have used it on several types of blades (stiff and flexy), and it has always proven its worth.
It is amazing for over-the-table banana flicks that allow you to open with backhand. It has good grip, medium-high throw, medium sponge, and a controlled speed, ensuring that most of your loops land on the table. It is also good for blocking.
I am totally satisfied with this rubber!
Used this in 2.1 on FH. It is great for looping and every type of shot, but the short game is difficult. Mid-distance players will appreciate this the most. If you do get it, though, get it in 1.9.
You get great spin on serves, but it isn’t always easy to keep them short. Not me, though.
This rubber is designed for a spin-oriented player from half-distance. It has too much dwell time and too high a throw for close-to-the-table play.
Spin in serves is exceptional.
I bought this rubber to test it as a possible substitute for Tenergy 05 FX. It certainly fits the bill on a fast and relatively stiff carbon-hinoki blade, especially on FH. You get a very nice controlled opening spinny loop. It is more reliable than T-05 FX in blocks and slower strokes. There’s a nice click in power loops. The catapult seems a little better controllable, a bit more linear than with T-05 FX, but that’s a very individual preference. It is highly recommended. Also, you can find webstores where they will sell it to you for under $40, so that’s another plus.
Excellent and great rubber! Value for your money, and you won’t regret it…my favorite lethal weapon, especially on my backhand…try it!
This is a great rubber for backhand. It’s fast enough, with very good spin and awesome control. With this rubber, you can block everything and smash at the table with ease.
You can do loop, smash, block, and push with no problems. I used this rubber for almost two years in different blades, and I don’t want to change!!.
My new rubber of choice. It has excellent control and ball feeling for looping. You can loop, block, push, and hit with great consistency. It’s a do-it-all rubber, cheaper than Tenergy and other tensors, and durable as hell. After 5 months of extensive play, it shows only minor signs of usage. It’s the best match for my Tibhar Stratus Power Wood blade!
One of the best rubbers I’ve ever had!
