Absolutely love this rubber! It’s fast, provides great spin, and offers fantastic control.

#2 — January 2021

Best rubber for players trying to develop control.
Consistent for backhand flicks and topspins.

#3 — September 2019

Very spinny tensor rubber.

It works well on either FH or BH. The throw is quite high. The catapult effect is quite strong, most noticeable on medium impact strokes. Thus, mid-distance looping is a breeze.

However, it is not as versatile. The topsheet isn’t so grippy, making flicks and pushes a bit iffy. But it also makes the rubber less sensitive to spin, so passive play is quite easy.

Boosting will increase both advantages and disadvantages, resulting in very few gears and huge catapult but also wicked spin on shots with sponge engaged.

Overall, this rubber is like MX-P with worse topsheet, less booster, and higher throw. Intermediate players can use this and later upgrade to MX-P.

Very similar to Donic Baracuda. More gears, slightly more speed and dynamic, moderate catapult. Topsheet is slightly softer, resulting in a higher arc. A very good rubber, being the first generation from ESN after Tenergy 05.

Using it in 2.0 sponge on both backhand and forehand on a Stag Balsa Carbon Fast blade, I must say this is one of the best controlled offensive rubbers I have ever played with. It has good speed, good spin, and excellent control.

It’s not very sensitive to incoming spin and hence blocks brilliantly. Counter topspin or topspin kill shots are also very easy with this. The medium throw angle keeps the ball from shooting long even on aggressive shots. I’m totally satisfied with it on both BH/FH.

I also have a Carbonado 145 blade, and this rubber should also work wonderfully well on that blade as well!

Very good rubber. It is quite insensitive to incoming spin, good at serves, provides a great arc for topspin, and excels at pushes and blocks. However, its main strength is its control. This rubber offers awesome control and is very easy to play with. Highly recommended.

Update 26.02.2015: When boosted, it becomes amazing. It is a little softer with better spin and control. It is a super rubber!

Simply the best forehand rubber for players of medium skill level.

#8 — August 2014

Best rubber I’ve ever tried.

#9 — July 2013

Less speed and spin than the T05, but much better control and far less sensitivity to incoming spin.

I play Maze T-teh OFF, with T64FX 1.9 on the forehand (FH) and T05FX 1.7 or T64FX 1.7 on the backhand (BH). I recently had the opportunity to test several new Tibhar blades and rubbers for a period of two weeks.

The Genius rubber is relatively soft, so it is best paired with a hard blade. I tested the Genius 1.7-1.8 on several different blades and found the Tibhar comBAT (new design) to be the most suitable. This combination is perfect for an attacking game close to the table and at mid-distance.

The spin on the Genius is very well controlled, allowing for precise execution of both short and long, low and high arc shots, with varying degrees of rotation. My opponent commented that he had difficulty anticipating the spin because my hand movement appeared consistent throughout.

Direct hitting was also effortless, regardless of the ball’s rotation. The same was true for flipping shots. Short-to-short exchanges and blocking were also effective.

Service quality is difficult to assess as my opponent is highly skilled at receiving. However, my opponent did net a few balls during service, suggesting that the Genius may also be effective for service.

Overall, the Genius is an excellent rubber for FH and slightly less so for BH, but still very good. As with all rubbers, the experience may vary depending on the pairing with other rubbers.

Bad for backhand, but this is just my opinion.

#12 — May 2012

I probed this rubber, but my sensation was very poor. This rubber looks like tacky Chinese rubber.

The spin is not sufficient to create high arcs.

I like Tibhar very much, but sorry, I don’t like this at all. I’m going back to Aurus, which is much better for me.

I tried a lot in the past and finally found my ideal rubber. It performs exceptionally well in 1.8 mm thickness, surpassing even Tenergys. It allows for spinning serves, effective blocking, and powerful topspins.

#14 — February 2012

Amazing rubber! It has great speed, spin, and excellent control. I can’t tell you how easy it is to play with this rubber.

#15 — November 2011

Very good, spinny tensor rubber. It’s not blazingly fast, but definitely not a slow rubber at all. One of the best rubbers I have tried, and very good value for the money.

#16 — November 2011

Wow, great! The spin is amazing! It is faster than the Tenergy 05 and with a lot of control.

#17 — August 2011

Great speed, spin, and good control.

#18 — December 2010

This was a disappointment. It is meant to be spinny with a spring-like sponge to give a nice trajectory, but this is not the case. The sponge feels very soft with little bouncing, and the sheet is not grippy enough to apply heavy spin. It is not good at all for serving and looping. What this rubber does nicely, though, is blocking.

It’s a very spiny rubber, but not a fast rubber.

#21 — May 2010

Very nice rubber! Very good control and spin. Fast as needed.

Switched from Tenergy 64 on my Donic Waldner Senso Carbon because it was too hard.

Durability: 4 months of play, 7 hours a week, and it seems like new, or near.

The best rubber I’ve used!

Review

I switched from Tenergy05 to this rubber but it feels quite different. It feels slow, soft but also more tacky and spinny. In my opinion, this rubber would perform much better with a harder sponge.

The durability is horrible compared to Tenergy. The sponge does not stick very well and requires 2-3 gluing sessions before it completely adheres.

As a Tibhar fan, I am disappointed with this rubber and will be returning to Tenergy or Vega.

I tried this rubber on a borrowed paddle. It played differently from other tensors. The topsheet looks less fragile and definitely has more grip than other tensors. However, it’s not as spinny as Tenergy or Boost. Nevertheless, in terms of spin, this is a great improvement in comparison to other ESN rubbers.

The sponge hardness is about the same as Platin Soft.

I just can’t let it go! I just have to test a “classic” or a Chinese rubber from time to time!

Facts: The rubber is black with a 47.5-degree, 2 mm sponge. Its weight is 93 grams when packed, 68 grams when uncut, and 47 grams on a 157 x 150 mm blade.

One thing that particularly struck me when playing with the Genius was its low catapult. It plays very directly, but you always have the feeling that the ball doesn’t want to leave the rubber surface, which of course makes the rubber very controlled. However, its rotation values are very high. In my opinion, it’s a real spin monster that also works on a wide variety of blades, but it also reminds me a bit of faster Chinese rubbers, which, as is well known, often lack a little catapult.

Conclusion: For this rubber, I would recommend a blade that is not too hard and stiff. However, it should be fast enough to compensate for the rubber’s lack of catapult. With such a combination, this rubber should surely find many friends!
