Xiom Sigma 1 Pro

Rubber description:

The Xiom Sigma 1 Pro is a high-performance table tennis rubber design that caters to attacking players looking for a balance of speed, spin, and control. Boasting impressive speed ratings at 112 and spin ratings at 111, this rubber provides an exceptional playing experience for those who favor aggressive gameplay. The 1.8 tackiness level ensures that the rubber offers adequate grip on the ball, enabling players to execute precise spins while maintaining a high-speed playstyle.

Weighing in at a moderate 5.9 ounces, the Sigma 1 Pro is neither overly light nor excessively heavy, providing players with a well-rounded feel during play. Its sponge hardness, rated at 7.4, contributes to a soft touch while still allowing for powerful loops and aggressive shots. Consequently, users can enjoy a considerable amount of control (rated at 85) while meeting the demands of quick exchanges common in modern table tennis. With durability rated at 7.6, it promises to withstand regular play without significant degradation, making it a reliable choice for competitive players.

For those seeking alternatives, while many tout the Sigma 1 Pro as a counterpart to popular choices like Tenergy 05 and Tenergy 64, it’s essential to note that it delivers a different playing experience with a blend of higher speed and control. Many players have found its characteristics favorable for backhand play, while others note success on their forehands, particularly when combined with various blades like the Stiga Carbo 7.6 or Tibhar Stratus Powerwood. Overall, if you’re hunting for a rubber that elevates your aggressive style without sacrificing control, the Xiom Sigma 1 Pro may just be the perfect addition to your arsenal.

I am using this rubber on my backhand with a Stiga Carbo 7.6 WRB blade.

Firstly, people often recommend this as a Tenergy alternative, but it is not. It has a little less spin but more speed and control than Tenergy 05. However, it is different. I don’t call it an alternative; I give it the same status as Tenergy 05. The rubber may be better than Tenergy for players who like it and give it time. Don’t expect to know how it plays after five minutes. Get a sheet and play with it for a couple of months, and you will feel the difference.

It is a blessing for me on the backhand side. I switched from Tenergy and can feel my game improve. I get more spinny and powerful backhands on the table and more loops. It is definitely worth trying and can be better than Tenergy if it suits you.

Sigma Pro, which has spin and speed comparable to T05 and control similar to T64, surprised me.

Like most of the new 2012 Tensors, this rubber is heavy at 49g when cut. It feels too fast for me, coming from Omega IV Pro. It also has less dwell time and a lower throw. I prefer Omega IV Pro. In my view, this rubber could be good on a slower Allround blade or for all-out attackers.
