Composite/carbon
Very controllable and speedy national PRO blade. I like it because I can smash all my opponents.
It plays very well with both sticky rubbers and Tensor rubbers. The weight balance is wonderful; my blade is 90 grams, which is great.
I had high hopes for this blade because of the above ratings, but I was sorely disappointed. This is certainly not the fastest blade on the planet, as the speed is only rated at off-maximum. While it feels comfortable for looping, its performance is mediocre in other areas. The low throw means that smashes tend to go downwards, the block is decent but lacks crispness, and flicks are slow due to the blade’s medium hardness.
In comparison to my Timo Boll ZLC, this blade falls short in every single aspect. It’s not even the best Chinese blade available; I’ve tried all-wood blades that outperformed this one. If you’re an experienced player looking for speed, this blade is not the one for you.
Very fast blade for playing a modern style attack game. Not the Version that Ma Long uses but of a similar composition for the masses. I bought this with provincial neo 3 blue 41 degrees on fh and prov neo orang 37 degrees on bh for fun to copy Ma Longs setup. After a few adjustments going from dignics 05 on the Backhand I’d have to say I’m very pleased. Monstrously fast and soft neo h3 on backhand. Softer sponge engages with a more compact stroke. The blade seems to have a flex catapult effect. It’s easy to play a passive backhand counter top spin game off the table, while looking for the opportunity to attack with forehand. 10 out of 10.
This blade is very fast when hitting flat, topspin, and loop shots. It maintains good control, similar to slower blades.
However, looping backspin balls on the forehand side can be quite difficult, requiring a full swing to execute the shot correctly. On the other hand, topspin shots on both the forehand and backhand sides are very stable.
Counter-topspin shots are incredibly powerful. It’s a beast! I love it and find it easy to use.
This blade exhibits exceptional speed during flat hits, topspins, and looping shots. It maintains remarkable control, comparable to slower blades.
Looping backspin balls on the forehand side requires a full swing to achieve optimal execution. However, topspins on both forehand and backhand are exceptionally stable.
When countering topspins, the blade delivers a thunderous response. Its overall performance is outstanding, making it an ideal choice for players seeking a powerful and reliable blade.
Excellent blade for backhand strokes, producing powerful shots and effortless serves. Recommended for close-to-table play, with moderate to slow swing speeds. Requires precise technique for full-power shots at medium distances. The compact blade head demands accuracy for effective hitting and blocking. Exceptional control enhances overall performance.
Very nice blade, but a little bit heavy at 91 grams.
I changed from the normal Hurricane Long 5 to this blade, and I can tell you that it’s a totally different blade. It performs well in topspin and loops, as it has less dwell time. This translates into a more direct feeling and a lower throw angle. This blade is more suited for counter loops and is more difficult to loop against chop. I’m talking from experience with Hurricane 3 provincial blue sponge on the forehand and Hurricane 3-50 on the backhand. I find this to be a looping machine, it’s crazy!
It is a blade for very advanced players. I have never seen a fast blade like this one. You can just touch the ball and it goes alone to the other side. It is a looping machine and you can generate a lot of spinny and fast loops. If you love speed, this blade is for you. It is the Ferrari of table tennis!!!
I’ve never played with the original HL5, so I can’t compare it with the HL5x. However, I can say that I really like the HL5x.
The first thing I noticed about the HL5x was its pronounced catapult effect. This feeling is similar to the H301, but the HL5x is faster and bouncier. Whereas the H301 is thin and flexible, the HL5x is thicker, with a softer outer ply. This gives the HL5x very good dwell time.
I wasn’t used to the catapult effect at first, but once I got used to it, I fell in love with the blade. I use Yinhe Big Dipper on FH and Donic Acuda S1 turbo on BH. I highly recommend this blade. Very few blades have such a good balance between control and speed. The sweet spot is also very large and gives consistent bounce throughout the playing surface.
I upgraded to this version from the regular HL5 and found it to be a significant improvement. The handle is thicker and somewhat more boxy (though still fairly round), enhancing the comfort of the grip. The head size is also slightly smaller, resulting in a decreased rubber surface area. This adjustment improves the weight balance, eliminating the previous head-heavy bias. The overall weight is considerably lighter compared to the old HL5, which is a welcome improvement. My total setup, including H3N and 05fx, weighs approximately 185g.
I had been using ML5 for the last 2-3 years. I wanted to upgrade to 5x as my game was shifting from control to more speed. Also, the ML5 handle is too thin which demands a grip. And adding a grip means adding more weight.
Overall, it’s more powerful than the 5. I didn’t feel any issue with ‘control’. You may need to adjust the game a bit if it feels way too fast.
This is a head-heavy blade with excellent spin and power. If you want to balance the center of gravity/weight, glue a small coin at the end of the handle. Thanks to TT11 for answering my questions and the support needed during the order.
I am sure it’s a good blade, but for me, I wanted a blade close to a Schalga blade.
Perfect blade.
This blade is head heavy; it has improved my game by xx times. I’m a control player, so speed isn’t my forte. This blade has helped me a lot by adding more force to each stroke.
The speed is slightly faster than HL5. The ability to generate spin is always excellent. It’s perfect for using H3 national blue sponge 40 as FH, and H3 national 37 as BH. I boosted those rubbers before using them.
Buyers need to know this is a completely different blade than the flared handle Long 5X. The head of this blade is a different shape than the flared grip blade, therefore giving a completely different playing experience. The straight handle blade with its different head shape has much more flex than the flared handle, which is much stiffer. This head shape makes it ungainly to quickly move the blade when close to the table but does give it an extra kick when looping. Since the head size is larger than the flared handle, it also adds several grams to paddle weight, and this can be a deal-breaker if you play with max thickness rubber. In conclusion, do not think this is the same blade as the Long 5X flared handle but a different blade with much more flex and a much heavier weight when paired with rubber.
This is a well-balanced blade.
Be sure to have the TT11 seal blade before shipment to protect the outer layer.
It has a large sweet spot with decent dwell time while still giving good speed.
Without a doubt, the flagship of the DHS line.
So, good spin with strong penetrating power. If you are worried that this blade might be too fast for you, then you can choose the more spin-oriented Ma Long 5 or even the low-price sleeper Fang Bo B2X.
When compared to BUTTERFLY, this blade gives you much more bang for your dollar. Hard to go wrong with any DHS blade.
Very good product as expected. This is the second time I have bought from them.
Slightly harder than B and N blades, requires a bit more power for topspins, but shoots even more accurately than others when paired with DHS Neo Hurricane 3 Provincial 41 Blue and Nittaku G-1.
This is a wonderful blade. It will suit players who have played Ma Long 3, but would like to try playing at higher speeds without losing control. I tried blades from different manufacturers. Ma LongLong 5X suits me perfectly. Before that, I played Ma Long 3 for 2.5 years. You can receive balls from different angles with this blade. None of the bases that I played can do this. Ma LongLong 5X is not a simple blade, it requires a revision of the playing technique, but it’s worth it! Forehand I play Evolution MX-P and for backhand Tenergy 05.
The long felt good in the hands, with a slight vibration when hitting hard (counter looping). The core is thick, which provides good speed and power. But DHS quality cannot match Butterfly. On the side, you can see the ALC stitching to be inconsistent.
After a few times of re-gluing (using provin H3 which requires boosting), the blade fibers started to come off.
Might be better if you lacquer the blade.
I’ve played the oldest Long 5 (big head size), the newer Long 5, and this Long 5X. My FH rubber is always H3 BS 40 degrees with 3 layers of boosters. BH is commercial Neo H3. Other blades I’ve played include ZJK ALC, Petr Korbel, Primorac, Stiga OC, Dynasty Carbon, Intensity NCT, etc.
To me, Long 5X behaves like an outer ALC blade with less flex. The feedback is quite muted. Even the much harder Dynasty Carbon has more feel and feedback than Long 5X. That’s probably because my recovery and stroke are quick and strong enough.
This DHS Hurricane Long 5x blade is an excellent product, assembled with DHS Goldarc 8 on FH and Nittaku Moristo SP on BH.
Osnovanije super.
Excelente madera, es rápida pero los servicios salen fáciles. Creo que en el revés es más saltarín, control increíble.
El servicio entregado por la empresa también es excelente.
Excellent.
Good blade. Good control. Not the fastest though.
Quality is good, a slight upgrade from the regular Long 5 (HL5). It definitely feels a bit firmer on hits than HL5, which may help if you progress or move to harder rubbers. It would be awesome if DHS made a darker colored handle =). After trying many blades, I feel that this wood composition with a soft outer layer suits great for any Chinese tacky rubbers (ML style of play). If you prefer European Tenergy-like rubbers, I suggest you look towards koto outer ply blades like TBS/Viscaria.
Awesome, very good blade!!
I bought this blade because I have a DHS blade of the Hao III model. I love it due to the control, speed, and the handle, so I wanted to buy another DHS blade. I was thinking between this or the Long 5 original. I decided to go with X anyway, and I don’t regret it. The speed of it is flawless and fun. I am not an advanced or higher-level player, but holding it and playing with it gives you the feeling that you are at the top anyway.
Good wood.
Muito boa madeira.
Commercial version of w968-6. Stiff and flexible base. Very strong spin. Excellent short game. Flat game is lacking, need to get used to.
This is the 4th DHS Long 5 I have owned. I like this one (5X) better; so did the first generation (the larger size one). Beautiful loop and smash with proper rubbers glued. The second generation (the prior X version) - I won’t say I do not like it but I preferred the first and this third generation.
Hurricane Long 5x is a superb blade. It suits Chinese rubbers.
