I had high hopes for this blade because of the above ratings, but I was sorely disappointed. This is certainly not the fastest blade on the planet, as the speed is only rated at off-maximum. While it feels comfortable for looping, its performance is mediocre in other areas. The low throw means that smashes tend to go downwards, the block is decent but lacks crispness, and flicks are slow due to the blade’s medium hardness.

In comparison to my Timo Boll ZLC, this blade falls short in every single aspect. It’s not even the best Chinese blade available; I’ve tried all-wood blades that outperformed this one. If you’re an experienced player looking for speed, this blade is not the one for you.

Very fast blade for playing a modern style attack game. Not the Version that Ma Long uses but of a similar composition for the masses. I bought this with provincial neo 3 blue 41 degrees on fh and prov neo orang 37 degrees on bh for fun to copy Ma Longs setup. After a few adjustments going from dignics 05 on the Backhand I’d have to say I’m very pleased. Monstrously fast and soft neo h3 on backhand. Softer sponge engages with a more compact stroke. The blade seems to have a flex catapult effect. It’s easy to play a passive backhand counter top spin game off the table, while looking for the opportunity to attack with forehand. 10 out of 10.

This blade exhibits exceptional speed during flat hits, topspins, and looping shots. It maintains remarkable control, comparable to slower blades.

Looping backspin balls on the forehand side requires a full swing to achieve optimal execution. However, topspins on both forehand and backhand are exceptionally stable.

When countering topspins, the blade delivers a thunderous response. Its overall performance is outstanding, making it an ideal choice for players seeking a powerful and reliable blade.

Excellent blade for backhand strokes, producing powerful shots and effortless serves. Recommended for close-to-table play, with moderate to slow swing speeds. Requires precise technique for full-power shots at medium distances. The compact blade head demands accuracy for effective hitting and blocking. Exceptional control enhances overall performance.

Very nice blade, but a little bit heavy at 91 grams.

I changed from the normal Hurricane Long 5 to this blade, and I can tell you that it’s a totally different blade. It performs well in topspin and loops, as it has less dwell time. This translates into a more direct feeling and a lower throw angle. This blade is more suited for counter loops and is more difficult to loop against chop. I’m talking from experience with Hurricane 3 provincial blue sponge on the forehand and Hurricane 3-50 on the backhand. I find this to be a looping machine, it’s crazy!

It is a blade for very advanced players. I have never seen a fast blade like this one. You can just touch the ball and it goes alone to the other side. It is a looping machine and you can generate a lot of spinny and fast loops. If you love speed, this blade is for you. It is the Ferrari of table tennis!!!

I’ve never played with the original HL5, so I can’t compare it with the HL5x. However, I can say that I really like the HL5x.

The first thing I noticed about the HL5x was its pronounced catapult effect. This feeling is similar to the H301, but the HL5x is faster and bouncier. Whereas the H301 is thin and flexible, the HL5x is thicker, with a softer outer ply. This gives the HL5x very good dwell time.

I wasn’t used to the catapult effect at first, but once I got used to it, I fell in love with the blade. I use Yinhe Big Dipper on FH and Donic Acuda S1 Turbo on BH. I highly recommend this blade. Very few blades have such a good balance between control and speed. The sweet spot is also very large and gives consistent bounce throughout the playing surface.

I upgraded to this version from the regular HL5 and found it to be a significant improvement. The handle is thicker and somewhat more boxy (though still fairly round), enhancing the comfort of the grip. The head size is also slightly smaller, resulting in a decreased rubber surface area. This adjustment improves the weight balance, eliminating the previous head-heavy bias. The overall weight is considerably lighter compared to the old HL5, which is a welcome improvement. My total setup, including H3N and 05fx, weighs approximately 185g.
