Performance Characteristics

The blade weighs 83 grams and has a lacquered finish. I’ve tested it with various rubbers, including C53, C48, R42, R50, Rigan Spin, G-1, Hammond Z2, and Chinese Skyline and Hurricane rubbers.

This blade exhibits more flex and kick than I initially anticipated. It’s well-constructed, but it seems to “bottom out” when used with softer rubbers. It produces a satisfying crack sound upon hard impact.

Looping is relatively easy, and the blade rewards players with quick, spinny shots. It only provided sufficient dwell time when paired with Chinese rubbers. Other tensor rubbers felt excessively bouncy to allow for aggressive play, unless brushing only.

The short game and blocking are decent. The blade performs well with looping, punching, and sidespin techniques.

It’s not as stiff as I had hoped. While quite fast, it seems to lack the necessary “power” to hit directly through opponents. I recommend using harder sponge rubbers with medium throw characteristics. I’m still experimenting to determine the optimal rubber combination for this blade.

Spin Monster Blade

This blade is a spin-generating machine. Its unique construction, featuring a combination of limba and hinoki wood, provides exceptional feel and control, allowing players to execute spin-heavy shots with precision.

The limba outer ply offers a crisp, responsive feel, while the hinoki core provides a soft, elastic touch. This combination enhances dwell time on the ball, allowing players to impart maximum spin on their shots.

The blade is well-balanced, with a comfortable grip that enhances control. Its medium weight and stiffness make it suitable for players of all skill levels, from intermediate to advanced.

Weight: 82 grams Lacquered: 83 Played with R50 2.0 on both sides. Didn’t like R50 on the forehand, way too fast for dwell time. Tried Skyline 2 Neo, which was a bit slow and had a lower throw. Tried Skyline 2 Provincial Blue 40’. Best combo of control, spin, and speed. Rasanter 50 on the backhand maintained an off-tempo even when defending, making others under pressure even when you’re not attacking. Looping was easy and the gears are massive between soft and spinny to fast and flat or spinny. Power is there and can make you shoot off the table due to the inherent bounce. Speed: 9.6 Spin: 9.8 with options for low spin or high spin blocks, loops, and counters. Loops: 10/10 Drives: 9.0/10 Counters: 9.5/10 Short game: 9.25/10 Control: 9.5 with certain rubber combos. You don’t need high-speed rubbers to get the speed. So this blade harmonizes the ability for spinny rubbers while imparting a strong power/speed and rotation together. Very easy to loop and counter. Blocks can be difficult based on angle since it’s got power even when you’re trying to be soft and there is a spinnier opponent without less power. A better feeling and stronger version of Hurricane Long 3. It makes a tremendous arc option and can wait for a ball to drop and can still load up with power this giving time. High or low arc options are available but tend to go higher on slower shots and lower on faster shots, thus making it difficult for opponents to handle. Good blade and much better than Long 5, Long 3, and Nobilis. Less stiff than Nobilis or JMSZLC and similar to regular JMZLC in arc and spin but faster and with a better feeling and blocking.
