Tibhar Evolution FX-S

Rubber description:

The Tibhar Evolution FX-S is a tensor rubber that bridges the gap between soft, high-catapult sponges and firm, performance-oriented topsheets. It features a medium-soft sponge (rated at 42 degrees on the ESN scale) paired with a notably firm, grippy, and durable topsheet. This unique construction provides a medium-firm overall sensation, preventing the “bottoming out” effect often found in softer rubbers while maintaining enough dwell time for excellent ball control.

Key Playing Characteristics

  • Spin and Dwell: The rubber excels at generating high levels of mechanical spin, particularly in looping and topspin-heavy games. The increased contact time allowed by the soft sponge enables players to easily lift backspin, while the firm topsheet ensures that spin production remains effective even during aggressive strokes.
  • Speed and Catapult: While it is not intended for all-out, high-speed offensive play, the rubber offers a pronounced, active catapult effect. This makes it highly versatile, providing controllable speed for intermediate players while maintaining enough power for winners when the player engages the sponge with sufficient force.
  • Control and Versatility: Many users characterize this as a “safe” or “consistent” rubber. Its performance is highly reliable for blocking, returning serves, and touch play over the table. It provides a distinct, satisfying sound upon impact, which contributes to the tactile feedback preferred by many players.
  • Surface and Weight: The topsheet is robust and durable, capable of withstanding heavy training loads. Despite the soft sponge, the rubber is not particularly lightweight, often weighing in line with firmer, more offensive alternatives. It is generally recommended for use on the backhand, though many users find it highly effective on the forehand depending on the blade’s characteristics and the player’s preference for a controllable, spin-oriented game.

Soft, slow rubber with good control. Probably good for backhand but a bit too soft for me. I prefer EL-S.

The extremely grippy topsheet lies on a soft to medium sponge (42 hardness on the ESN scale). Due to the catapult, speed and spin are easy to reach. However, due to the overall softness, the rubber lacks end gears in this respect. Evolution FX-S might be too bouncy for beginners and too soft for very good and fast players. Perfect for intermediate to advanced players using a consistent and controlled looping game.

High quality, but a bit slower than I would like.
