The rubber has a nice grip, low throw, and medium hardness. It provides good catapult power, but not extreme. The topsheet is firm, while the sponge is medium. It allows for spinny openings and a low arc when blocking. Overall, it is a very good backhand rubber.
Very good rubber for both forehand and backhand. One of the best rubbers ever made. This is a great attacking rubber with insane catapult and great speed. It’s the best alternative for Tenergy.
Its main weapon is control, like a horse. However, keep your shots controlled because of its high power.
The top sheet is grippy only when playing mid or far from the table. Because the sponge feels hard, the ball does not sink into the topsheet in the short game, so you cannot topspin an underspin. There is no grip in the short game.
Works like Tenergy. The Carbo Sponge plays an excellent role in generating power spins, and the medium tacky sheet grips the ball, allowing you to control the amount of spin you want to impart. I use it on my forehand and Omega 2 Asia for my backhand, with the Skitt Wenge 2 Rosewood Carbon as my blade. This combination works very well for both passive and offensive strategies. This rubber will not let you down!
Cover Sheet: Compact and grippy.
Sponge: Porous but consistent.
Characteristics:
Impact of Blade Stiffness:
Marked difference in performance between stiff and flexible blades. Experimentation is recommended.
Very good rubber! Good for topspin and block…for me, it is the best for backhand.
I play on FH with Xiom Aigis blade. I can loop and block well. For the small game on the table, it’s rather difficult, but great 1 to 3 meters away from the table. More info within a month.
I am a penhold player using an RSM Platinum Special racket with a blade thickness of 10.5 mm. This rubber fits the blade well and provides a good balance of spin and speed, making it suitable for mid-distance play.
Compared to Vega Pro, this rubber offers increased speed and stability when counter-looping. However, it lacks the versatility and power of Vega Pro for close-table attacks.
Overall, this rubber is a good option for penholders.
Backhand Performance:
This rubber excels as a backhand option, offering excellent ball control, keeping it low for effective short game play. It proves highly effective for returning topspin and sidespin serves, as well as for executing mid-distance full strokes and solid blocks.
Smash Capabilities:
On hard tilts and smashes, the rubber generates a remarkable amount of spin, resulting in virtually un-returnable backhand smashes.
October 7, 2013:
Initially, when I applied the rubber to my blade and began playing, I perceived it as slow and difficult to control. However, after approximately a week of use, I developed a feel for it and could generate highly spinny loops. It is a fast rubber, albeit not the fastest available. Nonetheless, when combined with its high spin and control capabilities, it proves to be extraordinary.
Push: Good control and spin
Flick/Flip: Fast flicks
Loop: Fast and spinny! Excellent loops at both close and long distances from the table
Loop (from backspin): Highly spinny, requiring practice to execute with speed
Spin on serve: Outstanding!
Smash: This rubber excels in smashing! It delivers incredible speed.
Lob: Although not ideal for lobbing, it can still perform adequately.
Overall, it is a spinny, fast, and controllable rubber. Highly recommended!
EDIT: December 13, 2013:
I currently use this rubber on my forehand and must emphasize that it is among the finest rubbers I have ever employed for forehand looping! Its speed and spin are exceptional. While its speed may not be the absolute highest, its spin characteristics in loops are truly remarkable. During warm-ups with players who surpass me in skill, my loops generate such incredible topspin that they often struggle to return the ball, marveling at the amount of spin it imparts.
Its spin capabilities are truly exceptional, though it admittedly produces less spin on pushes.
Just played with this rubber after years of Sriver G3 FX. It is fair to say that Xiom is the best FH rubber I have ever played with. It is spinny with loads of control. Excellent rubber, now need a new FH rubber.
It’s a great backhand (BH) rubber. If I were to choose a BH rubber, I would go for this one. It’s good in receiving service, very good when looping, and blocks are pretty easy. I’m not sure how long this rubber lasts, but I have another as a backup.
9.7.
This rubber is a good all-around rubber that can be used for a variety of playing styles. It has a good balance of spin, speed, and control. It is also relatively durable, so it will last a long time.
For me, this rubber has more speed than spin. Sometimes, it doesn’t grab the ball properly, and it’s only two weeks old. I will not buy this rubber again. As for me, Acuda S1 is a much better offensive rubber. Good luck to all table tennis players.
This rubber is excellent, offering great speed and control.
Faster than it is spinny. Very good control, but not the best. Good sound. Very solid rubber; you can’t go wrong.
The speed is excellent, suitable for most players except speed enthusiasts. It offers a balance of speed and control. I find it easier to stroke than other rubbers I’ve used.
The spin is also impressive. Loops are effortless and generate significant spin. Smashing is where this rubber excels. Flicks are effective and swift, owing to its slight bounciness.
The rubber provides excellent spin and nullifies the opponent’s spin on pushes, although initial control may require some adjustment. Despite its bouncy nature, I can control the ball with a light touch to drop it just over the net.
Blocking is exceptional, rapidly returning the ball while absorbing a substantial amount of spin.
Gears are “above average” in my opinion, but I’ve encountered rubbers with superior performance in this area.
Pairing this rubber with a medium-stiff blade is advisable to enhance control and spin. Using it with a hard blade, as I did, may limit the full potential of rubber’s capabilities.
Overall, it’s a fantastic rubber for backhand. I highly recommend it for all-round offensive players. For aggressive attackers or loopers, there may be more specialized options available. However, this rubber performs exceedingly well in all aspects.
Awesome and versatile rubber!
This rubber is delightful to play with. The combination of speed and spin can reach remarkable heights as you grow accustomed to it.
This rubber performs well for looping, driving, chopping, and blocking maneuvers. The arc it produces is highly satisfying.
Overall, this rubber is ideally suited for all-around offensive play, making it well worth the purchase.
Absolutely great rubber. I used to play with T05, and I think Sigma Europe is even better. The control and spin are fantastic, and the speed is perfect; not the fastest but more than enough.
I just love this rubber after three months of playing with it. Xiom seems to be the future of high-quality rubbers.
Best rubber for forehand with very good durability. Spin is good with speed. I’m using it on a Ma-long alc ply blade. However, receiving and pushing are not as easy to control, but it is good for blocking and attacking return topspins. With practice, you can even hit the service and control it. It is best suited for off blades, mine is OFF++.
Best rubber ever!
Black Sponge Tomo is a table tennis rubber that offers a great balance of spin, speed, and control. It is suitable for players of all levels, from beginners to professionals. The rubber is made with a high-quality sponge that provides good elasticity and durability. It also features a tacky surface that allows for excellent ball control.
Black Sponge Tomo is a good choice for players who want to improve their overall game. It can help players generate more spin and speed on their shots, while also providing them with good control. The rubber is also very durable, so it can withstand heavy use.
Even though I’ve been perfectly happy with my earlier BH-rubber (Rakza 7 Soft), I couldn’t resist trying the Sigma Europe based on the rave reviews.
And absolutely, it’s a very good rubber, even though I feel its ratings are slightly inflated. It has very good speed, excellent spin, and good control. It also has nice linear gears, even though it takes some care in the short game. The sponge feels fairly hard, but a soft topsheet still gives a medium feel.
In the end, I won’t be keeping it though. It’s just too heavy for my setup and while very good, I feel it still doesn’t offer me a real upgrade over the Rakza, which is noticeably lighter.
So, if I had any brains, I’d go back to the Rakza. But instead, I’ve decided to try the Haifu Shark III first, as I’ve heard good things about it and really like Haifu’s upgraded sponge.
And the equipment whoring goes on… :/.
Amazing rubber!
A champion in each aspect (loop, chop, spin, drive, push)! Controllable over the table as well as at mid-distance and far away from the table. Considerably cheaper than the BTY Tenergy family ($36 at TNPP.com)! Try it if you are an attacker or all-rounder and you won’t be sorry.
All compliments to XIOM!!
Excellent control when stuck on an all-round blade (not too fast wood does not give too early impact to the ball).
I have Sigma Euro on BH and Sigma Pro on FH. I do not feel a big difference in these two Sigma rubbers.
Somebody seems to have given near 0 values for this rubber without giving reasons for bad values in the text.
Fantastic rubber. Finally, it is close to saying Tenergy good-bye!!
Everything you need for offensive play is built into XSE. Better and longer performances compared to Tenergy. Congratulations to XIOM.
This rubber offers great speed and control. It can generate topspin, fast spin, and loop drives effortlessly. When I put it on my DHS Hurricane Hao III forehand blade, the performance was amazing, especially considering the price.
Review:
sponge between omegaIV europe-asia
I like it… more power and spin.
