I use this rubber for backhand with Butterfly LGY ALC and it offers a decent amount of speed, control, and great spin. Flicks are very easy to execute as the ball sinks into the rubber. If you are a backhand looper, this rubber is a great choice. It feels like T05 but with enhanced control.

#2 — February 2023

Comparing it to Tenergy 05, it is an even easier to play with rubber. For me, it was way too soft on the forehand, but for the backhand, it felt too fast.

I like the control of it, but the high throw angle made it too easy for my opponents to counterattack. I could impart a lot of spin in my shots with this rubber.

In the end, I stopped playing with it, as it was too expensive and too soft for my liking.

I recently got Tenergy 05fx 1.9mm for my forehand. I loop, chop, block, and flat hit with my forehand, so my rubber needs to excel at everything. The Tenergy 05fx is the best choice for my playing style as it allows me to attack, control the play, and counter my opponents’ shots. I highly recommend this rubber for all-around to offensive players with some experience.

Review of Tenergy 05FX

An excellent rubber for advanced players, but beginners and intermediates should choose something more forgiving if they prefer playing with a soft tensor. Rakza 07 Soft is a suitable alternative. Tenergy 05FX offers exceptional spin, powerful shots, and is ideal for serving. It blocks well, providing extra dwell and confidence compared to other Tenergies. However, it requires a period of adjustment to master the soft touches.

Tenergy 05FX performs well with chops, especially when paired with a suitable blade and thinner sponges. As expected, loops are exceptional, and the rubber provides a wide range of gears.

While it may be too fast and bouncy for some players, and the price is high, it offers excellent value for serious league players with good technique who regularly practice and desire a slightly more manageable version of Tenergy.

Gran goma!

Por tu bien, no la compres en tabletennis11…

#7 — October 2021

I don’t like this one. It’s just too soft. I don’t know who can play with it in this modern era.

Pure T05 is a much better option for both forehand and backhand.

#9 — May 2021

I have always played with my forehand centered. This rubber is perfect for my backhand because it provides the control I need to push and open the point, allowing my forehand to take over from there. I have not yet mastered the speed, but I am attempting to utilize the spin to lift the ball and finish the point with my forehand. I do not employ this rubber for backhand serves, not even when doubling, as I prefer to spin my racket to engage my forehand side DHS Gold Arc 8 for increased spin or speed.

Pros:

  • Spin
  • Control
  • Flips
  • Blocking

Cons:

  • Speed
  • Flick pushes
  • Ineffective when playing far from the table
  • Slow lobs under the table
#10 — October 2020

Just like Tenergy 05, this rubber is not suited for beginners. It is quite challenging to control, particularly during short strokes. However, it excels as an option for advanced players who possess a refined technique.

In terms of value, its price point may be considered excessive. You can opt for tensors from brands like Xiom or Yasaka at a significantly lower cost.

#11 — May 2020

I use the 1.9mm version of this rubber on my forehand. This is the best rubber I have ever used.

#12 — May 2020

Outstanding rubber and sponge in all aspects! What more can I say? It deserves a 5-star and a 10 out of 10 rating.

I’m using 2.1 Max on both sides of a Donic Waldner World Champion '89 blade. It’s a great combination with a total weight of 189 grams.

#13 — February 2020

Throws less than 0.5, but still huge spin. Flat hits not easy. Best backhand rubber I have ever tried.

#14 — February 2020

This is good rubber. On my backhand, it is very controlled and has a lot of spin.

Blade: Cornilleau Hinotec OFF+ carbon
Rubber: T05; 1.9mm; black; 43g. Backhand (BH)

First impression: Very similar to Rasanter R42. High dwell time, “click” sound when playing mid-distance. Quite high/medium throw angle, not so speedy, but faster than TSP Ventus Spin (which has the lowest sponge hardness). Good in block, good for chikita, but not fast.

If you are looking for a secure rubber for spin at mid-distance, T05 is better. If you play all-round, T05-FX may be a good choice, but it’s pricier. Maybe better to consider R42, which is very close to T05-FX and less expensive. Overall, not convinced.

#17 — December 2018

Very safe.

#18 — October 2018

I am a modern defender. I use a Butterfly defensive blade with Tenergy 05FX and long pips Cloud and Fog 3. This rubber is intended for intermediate to advanced players. It offers many gears, but the punch shot is notably challenging. This rubber excels at picking up backspin and provides a nice high throw on the ball.

However, the significant drawback is its price. The cost continues to rise, and despite my appreciation for this rubber, I am reluctant to pay the excessive prices.

#19 — December 2017

Great alternative for players who find Tenergy 05 too hard and difficult to control. It possesses the same excellent spin potential as 05 but is not as fast or bouncy. It offers better overall control, making short play and play above the table easier.

#20 — July 2017

This is a very good backhand rubber. To make the most of it, however, you must have a very good technique. The rubber is fast, spinny, and has a lot of control.

#21 — April 2017

Going through my second sheet of this rubber, I can say that it is for players who have experience with applying topspin. This is an awesome rubber, and I strongly recommend it.

#22 — December 2016

Very good rubber. Very spinny, with much control and good speed!

#23 — July 2016

I’m really impressed by this rubber, playing it in 1.7 mm/FH. It’s fast (maybe a bit too fast for me, to be honest) but easily controllable. I’d say its base speed is not very high, but when you hit harder, it gets really speedy, especially away from the table.

The amount of spin I can generate with it is tremendous, and I have no other rubber like this. However, it’s absolutely not for beginners. You have to have your angles and movements right. I find it quite hard to lift backspin shots. I’ll keep this rubber in mind for when I play better.

#24 — July 2016

Review Text:

This rubber is exceptional, allowing me to execute a wide range of shots with ease. The only exception is flat hitting, but with proper training, it shouldn’t be an issue.

The ball effortlessly flies off the bat, eliminating the need for excessive force. The spring sponge takes care of it. All you need to do is provide a proper parabolic trajectory, and the ball will soar at incredible speed and bounce with force. Your opponents will be caught off guard, guaranteed.

I highly recommend this rubber primarily for backhand use due to its unforgiving nature.

#25 — April 2016

Me parece una goma espectacular. Para mi estilo de juego, que es Control + Spin, es perfecta.

#26 — March 2016

This is the best rubber even for speed players. It offers excellent top-spin, control, and stunning performance.

While flat hitting may be slightly weaker, with a little practice, this obstacle can be overcome.

#27 — March 2016

Good backhand rubber. The throw angle is medium high, and it’s easy to play with. This is my new backhand rubber. T 64 was too fast for me. The only problem with T 05 FX is the flat shot and smash. I must play with a strong topspin shot, but the control is amazing.

#28 — January 2016

Softer than the normal 05, it gives you more spin and a little bit less speed. However, it’s also more sensitive to incoming spin.

Personally, I’d recommend the 05 over the FX version, but it varies from player to player. The FX version might have slightly more control, but if you’re a consistent looper (can loop over 20x in a row without much trouble), I’d still recommend the 05.

#29 — July 2015

This rubber is good for backhand

#30 — July 2015

OVERALL: 9.0/10

This rubber is surprisingly slow for the Tenergry series. It is designed for players who prefer slower, more spinny loops over fast play. The spin is incredible, while the control is reasonable, considering it is a rubber for advanced players. It also produces serves laden with spin, as well as effective pushes and chops. Many choppers utilize it on their forehand due to its versatility, allowing them to transition seamlessly between looping and chopping with ample spin. Despite its exceptional qualities, the only drawback is its price, which stands at $67 per sheet. There are comparable rubbers available at a more affordable cost.

#31 — May 2015

I’m using this rubber on my backhand, but I don’t like it for forehand. It has a lower throw than T05 and is a bit slower, but it offers greater control.

On the backhand, you can execute almost every stroke, including defensive ones. It’s recommended for all-around topspin/loop attackers and is also suitable for counters and blocks. This characteristic is similar to T05. It’s better suited for advanced players than beginners.

An update: It’s noticeably better at receiving serves than regular T05.

Flicks from the table are fast, have a high throw (but not as high as T05), and can generate a lot of spin. For me, it’s a backhand rubber, but many first league and super league players use it on their forehand.

#32 — April 2015

Good rubber, but it’s still too fast for me. I think the spring sponge technology gives it a springy feel when hitting the ball, but it’s too springy for me. Now I understand why many pros like to use Tenergy rubber.

#33 — February 2015

Top rubber, but there are plenty of rubbers out there now that are just as good, if not better, at a lower price. This rubber is still one of the best, but the price is a bit high.

#34 — January 2015

Best backhand rubber I’ve ever tried coming from T64. It can do it all except it’s just a tad slower if compared with T64.

#35 — November 2014

I bought this for my backhand (BH), and at first, I wasn’t overly impressed. It’s advertised as being a “control” version of Tenergy, but it is still quite fast and has a strong attack orientation. Initially, I had to adjust my technique to compensate for the catapult effect from the sponge.

Once I adjusted my stroke, I began to feel more confident and effective with this rubber. BH flicks, opening loops, drives, and blocks all became more consistent and impactful.

I tested it on my forehand (FH) by flipping my racket around, and I think I may prefer it even more for that side. Even from very close to the table, I feel confident in executing powerful attack shots without missing. It’s undoubtedly the best rubber I’ve used for looping backspin balls.

Even if I don’t make optimal contact, my shots feel highly effective, and many of my opponents have struggled to handle my opening loops.

#36 — July 2014

I have this on my backhand. It feels like I can’t miss. It has an amazing feel: soft, good speed, great spin, and good control. It’s very good for every playing style. I have this in 1.9mm on a Timo Boll All+ and it performs awesome. It is very reactive to spin, so it’s not for beginners.

#37 — June 2014

Pros:

  • Excellent for blocking, topspins, looping, serving, smashing, and pushing.

Cons:

  • High price point.
  • Recommended only for league or advanced players; may not be suitable for beginners or casual users.
#38 — June 2014

This rubber is among the fastest when tuned.

#39 — April 2014

Donic Acuda S1 Turbo

Characteristics:

  • Requires less effort than Tenergy 05.
  • Typical soft rubber benefits:
    • Longer dwell time
    • Increased spin and speed on slower shots

Comparison to Tenergy 05:

  • Lower throw angle
  • Less powerful for drives and loops
  • More effective for chopping
  • Surprisingly more difficult to block against
#40 — April 2014

Nice control on backhand. Easy to block with the combination of Zhang Jike Super ZLC, superb!

#41 — April 2014

This rubber is good for backhand looping, as it provides both spin and control.

#42 — March 2014

Tenor T05FX Rubber Review

There has been a lot of criticism surrounding this rubber. I am unsure if those who claim it is overrated have tried numerous other rubbers for months or even years of intensive training or whether they have found a blade suitable for their personal play style. However, if so, they must have purchased their T05FX from a butcher because it is a masterpiece.

It excels in power and speed, with formidable blocks, adequate spin, and smashes as strong as a sledgehammer. Even our young team members use it with ease after a few hours of play. It is undoubtedly tailored for the European playing style, emphasizing looping, killing, and enjoyment.

#43 — January 2014

In my opinion, this is the best rubber for the BTY Spirit blade. It is supreme for looping close/mid. After a short adjustment period, your play will have great spin, good control, and plenty of speed, even with a 1.9 thickness. Side spin loops have severe breaks.

Service return can be tricky until you learn to handle it. It is sensitive to spin but better than regular T05. Not for beginners. Great for BH and FH. Blocking is very good; however, flat hitting needs adjustment in your stroke. Medium-high throw with a slight click sound when new.

Great spin on serves. Works outstandingly on the Spirit blade but also as a BH rubber on the BTY M. Maze. A superb rubber from Butterfly.

#44 — November 2013

This product is not worth the price. It is not as good as advertised and does not meet my expectations.

#45 — October 2013

T-05 FX, in my humble opinion, is a better rubber than T-05 for an average advanced amateur player. T-05 is highly sensitive to the incoming spin, making it challenging to control during the short game. While T-05 FX remains sensitive, its overall control is improved, compensating for its slightly lower speed and similar throw angle to the regular T-05.

It excels on the backhand, with excellent blocking capabilities and easier opening loops. However, if your blade is not sufficiently fast, you may encounter difficulties adjusting your kill-loops. On the positive side, it pairs well with fast blades like Amultart or Schlager Carbon without compromising control.

Remember that all Tenergy rubbers demand attention and an active approach. While T-05 FX is slightly more forgiving, it will punish careless pushes or passive play against spinny balls.

#46 — July 2013

This is my backhand. It follows my eyes and spirit.
Very best backhand ever, guys.
Perfect for incoming serves returns, and you can truly control your balls in rallies.
Simply 10/10. Well done, Butterfly.

#47 — July 2013

This is hands down the best backhand rubber I have ever used. I can topspin anything with this, as well as counter-loop.

The only downside to this rubber is that it is terrible for flat blocks and hits. However, if you add your own topspin to these shots, they become more consistent and lethal.

#48 — June 2013

This linear rubber is similar to t05, but with a bit less speed and more control. It suits best at backhand :) for players who want very good control in their strokes and a lot of spin. It is much more controllable in backhand than the regular 05!

#49 — May 2013

This rubber excels for blockers and players focused on topspin techniques.

#50 — April 2013

Just changed from Tenergy 05 to Tenergy 05-fx after feeling that T05 was too hard and had many problems with topspins and opening loops.

After my first session with Tenergy 05-fx for both BH & FH on Butterfly Jun Mizutani:

WooooW

Amazing control.

Very easy top spin

Too much spin when serving

Deadly side-spin became possible.

About backhand:

Very manageable

Top spin is lower throw angle and feels great.

Simply:

Feeling as a dream.

More dwell time

Needs to test the blocking and the rally feel and make a complete review of this awesome rubber.

To be continued ISA …

#51 — December 2012

I have it on FH and BH on TBS. It took me about 15 days to understand this rubber. Initially, it feels uncontrollable, but once you tame this rubber, your game will be on top gear and you will never be satisfied with other rubbers.

#52 — September 2012

This FX Tenergy version is good for blocking and the short game. It’s a little bit slower and, for me, harder to generate spin with. You have to generate a fair amount of spin in your counterstrokes; otherwise, the ball trajectory will be too high, and your opponent will put the ball away easily.

#53 — August 2012

This is a pretty amazing rubber. I have tried all of the Tenergy line and I think the slightly softer FX of the 05 is the best of the bunch for an overall combo of spin, speed, and control. This rubber is hard to beat and worth the expensive price.

#54 — January 2012

Best rubber I ever played with!

Don’t forget that picking the right blade is as important as picking the right rubber.

#55 — October 2011

Great rubber. It is just a little bit slower and has a bit less spin than the t 05, but with much more control.

#56 — July 2011

Playing a modern defensive game on an All+ blade with Tenergy 05FX 1.7 and Feint III 1.1, this is a nice combination for both topspin and chop.

On this blade, the Tenergy performs both very well. The backspin is the highest out of all the smooth rubbers I have tried (more than a thin-sponged tacky chop rubber). Also, I have achieved the most spin when serving with this combination.

Overall, I am very happy with this setup (except for the price).

#57 — July 2011

This rubber has the best spin I have ever seen, it’s really amazing.

#58 — July 2011

I have used this rubber a couple of times on my robot and am slowly getting used to it. I was originally using Express 2 1.8mm sponge on my forehand, but now I have switched to Tenergy 05 FX. I did not use Free Chack to glue it, but I did use Joola X glue. The rubber is certainly not slow, but it is not as fast as the 05.

Topspinning backspin balls is a lot easier due to the softer sponge.

#59 — June 2011

That is where the good rubber was.

#60 — June 2011

It’s a superb rubber, no doubt. I use it on forehand and backhand with a Korbel SK7, which I have also reviewed. It’s a bit slower than I expected compared to Tenergy 64, but the control is awesome in all situations. I like to play very close to the table, but if I get a strong opponent which makes me go long away, the rubber will respond well. The top sheet should or could be more flexible like Tenergy 64 (which is perfect) and could have more spin. I don’t know how, but I really think that the best rubber ever will be Tenergy 64-FX. That surely needs to maintain speed, but I totally want them to put more spin on it. I think it’s going to happen because of the softer sponge, which holds the ball longer than the normal sponge. Another option is to invest in some new sponge hardness using kind of high tune and solutions techs to increase control and spin.

OBS: High-tune must be accepted by ITTF as official rubbers.

#61 — April 2011

Very similar to the T05 but with less spin, longer dwell time, more flexibility, and more control. If you play offensively almost near the table and like medium or soft rubbers with a lot of spin, buy it!

#62 — March 2011

Similar power to Tenergy 05, but just a little bit less.

Very easy to play with in comparison to the original, though.

#63 — January 2011

This rubber is awesome!

For a great combination, try this rubber on your forehand and buy a Xiom Vega Pro for the backhand.

Give it a try!

#64 — December 2010

Compared to Tibhar Sinus, Genius, Sriver FX, and Mark V (with glue), this rubber surpasses them in all aspects except flat hitting. Utilizing spin is necessary to control the ball effectively; without spin, the high throw angle becomes unpredictable. However, this rubber excels in topspin, counter-topspin, serving, and blocking. While the short game may not be effortless, it remains satisfactory. For now, this is my preferred rubber. Between the FX and normal versions, I opt for the FX due to its noticeably enhanced control. I employ a Gergely blade for optimal compatibility. Although I appreciate the Genius as well, it proves too swift when coupled with my Gergely blade in comparison to Tenergy.

#65 — October 2010

This rubber has excellent blocking and control. It is one of the best rubbers I have ever tried and tested. It is recommended for topspinners and blockers. However, it may not be suitable for the short game very well. Overall, it is a good choice for offensive play.

#66 — September 2010

I use this 2.1 mm rubber on my backhand. This is the best backhand rubber I have ever used.

#67 — July 2010

LA 05 FX mantiene las características de la 05 pero con un mayor control. Pierde un poco de efecto, pero no es muy significativo.

Esta goma es muy adecuada para el jugador que juega a la contra, con excelentes bloqueos y top spin con mucha rotación.

#68 — June 2010

A softer version of T05, this rubber features a different (softer) sponge, unlike the rest of the Tenergy range that use identical sponges.

This makes it lighter (but only slightly - still heavier than most rubbers), loses a bit of top speed, and has a slight click if you try hard enough (for those who prefer clicky noise rubbers).

It is marketed as the “control” version of Tenergy, but be cautious with that. It’s still fast, reacts strongly to incoming spin, and the short game is still tricky. However, I found it much easier when hitting, driving over the table and (crucially) blocking.

If you’ve adjusted to regular Tenergy’s quirks but desire something with a touch more control (say, on the backhand side), this rubber is worth considering. However, it’s definitely not an all-around control rubber.

#69 — Long Time Ago...

Review:

It works well with stiffer blades. If you find it too springy, use regular 05. I think it is a bit too soft for forehand. Probably the best backhand rubber, banana flicks are way better with this one than regular 05, easier to perform. Other than that, regular Ten05 is better to me.

On soft, flexible blades, it can be really spin sensitive and hard to control. Not that good for beginners. I would say since it doesn’t provide that good of a blade feeling compared to other soft rubbers from this range of hardness. I would say you need a blade with really good feeling and control if you wanna start with this one as your BH rubber. I can definitely get a better feedback from Ten05FX on blades that have a harder outer ply.

To me, it is one of the top BH rubbers. It is not as “feedback-y”, explosive, and ball bending as Xiom Vega Europe, but it is overall more direct and better if you have proper technique.

#70 — Long Time Ago...

I am an intermediate-advanced player and use this rubber on my forehand. I love it and am considering using it on my backhand as well, but I’m not sure. Can you guys give me some reviews and examples of your experiences with it on the backhand side?

#71 — Long Time Ago...

Hello, I have the ZLF blade. I put Bluefire M1 on the forehand and Bluefire M2 on the backhand. The wind is fast, very fast, and the blow of the tree is loud. Which rubbers are suitable for Timo Bo’s ZLF tree that combines control and speed? Thank you.
