For intermediate players with a taste for hinoki, this blade is a great choice. It excels at drives and smashes, and is also good at loops. Blocking is a breeze, and it has a good short game. It pairs well with hurricanes and hybrid rubbers.

The blade has that distinct hinoki catapult effect. It is usually better to pair it with mid-hard or harder sponges. The blade is noticeably head heavy with H3N '39 & Rakza Z 2.0 attached, with a combined weight of 190 grams, the blade alone weighing 87 grams.

With H3NPBS40 and O7CG, a 7-ply blade differs significantly from a 1-ply blade in terms of feel and performance. This blade may lack power, possibly falling in the ALL+/OFF- range. It’s recommended to read reviews before purchasing. The reviewer continues to search for the 1-ply feel of their previous Nittaku 1-ply Jpen, which they sold 35 years ago and regret selling.

This is one of the best all wood blades out there. It has decent speed, making it very controllable and very good for close and mid-distant attacks. Highly recommended!

My blade has seven plies of heavenly hinoki, all of which are from the oldest tree in Japan. Hinoki from Japanese women is the best. Just like I said, my girlfriend is the most beautiful in the world and must have a tiny p…y. If your ball goes into the net, don’t blame your girlfriend or friend. You just need more exercise.

Coming from Yasaka YEO, I initially classified this blade as a standard “7 ply blade” akin to DHS P7 or Stiga Clipper. However, I was profoundly mistaken. As a seasoned user of 5 ply hardwood blades for over two years, I discovered this blade offers superior control to Yasaka YEO in both feel and looping. However, this advantage comes at the cost of some speed, which is compensated by increased spin on powerlooping. Consequently, this blade qualifies as a loop-oriented OFF- blade.

To my surprise, it provides a comparable feel to Yasaka YEO, eliminating the need for any significant technique adjustments. Its weight distribution is nearly identical to YEO, despite being thicker and heavier. This may be attributed to its smaller blade area, requiring less rubber coverage.

[Update]

After nearly a year of testing, I have concluded that this blade is not compatible with traditional or Chinese rubbers. These rubbers render the blade insufficiently powerful to terminate rallies. While I still appreciate its feel and control, I will experiment further with tensor rubbers.

Suitable for players who want a Hinoki catapult feel but with a weight under 95g. Provides a soft and stiff feel with some flex, making it ideal for controlled offensive topspin play, opening loops, counter loops, passive and active blocks on the backhand. It also aids in developing backhand technique due to its forgiving nature and large sweet spot.

It is a fantastic blade, very good for looping. Plays very well close and mid distance. Initially, I struggled with control, but that was because I had Nimbus Soft on the forehand, which I found is not suitable for this blade. I recently switched to Acuda S1 Turbo, and the control improved drastically. Use medium-hard sponge rubbers for this blade and avoid soft ones.

My second CPEN blade has given me much fun. The control on this blade is unbelievable. I have it set up with 729-08ES for forehand and backhand.

Seventh Heaven Plies of Pure Hinoki Heaven - exactly as Nittaku described it!

I just can’t believe how much CONTROL is dripping in this paddle! It’s really confidence & awe inspiring and it lets me take the calculated and risky shots when milliseconds matter the most during intense play.

I thought the Zhang Jike ALC w T80FX had control - buddy let me tell you this blade is all about CONTROL and extremely controlled for that matter.

Ball placement is awesome! You can make your opponent run from one side of the court/table to the other because of it and it let’s you set up your attack for the next shot!

Looping, pushing, flicking, chopping, and smashing, you name it, this blade can and will do it! The only thing I wish I did was carefully read and listen to the reviews below and actually paired it with hard to medium-hard sponge rubbers.

I like the Nittaku Refoma 2.1 mm that I have on both sides right now, but I feel like it could definitely use some help with speed, power, and explosiveness, especially during serves.

This is why I will be ordering it with the Nittaku Fastarc S-1’s here very shortly! Can’t wait to get it and I will add an updated review of the blade with the rubber combination!

Thank you, Paddle Palace & my product specialist and advisor, David, for the awesome suggestions and quick service! Cheers!

A good blade. I use it as a second blade (first being Stiga Intensity NCT). Overall, I’m satisfied with this blade. I use it with XIOM Sigma I Europe 2.0 mm on both sides. It has good speed and control, low vibration, and can generate good spin with appropriate rubbers. It works well with medium-hard rubbers. It’s not a top-notch blade, but it’s worth every penny you pay for it. You can play quite high-level table tennis with this “popular” blade!

Good for topspin.

Very soft blade with some vibrations. It’s much softer than most 7-ply blades.

This is an excellent choice for those looking for an all wood all+/off- hinoki blade. It carries all the great characteristics of other all wood hinoki blades such as high control, dwell time, and fast smashes. For me, this blade excels in looping and drop shots. But it also serves, pushes, and blocks well.

As the previous reviewer noted, this blade does not pair well with soft rubbers. I use Tenergy05 fh and was using Nimbus Sound at first, but the soft Tibhar rubber made the setup unpredictable. I quickly upgraded to Tibhar Sinus with much better results. And because this blade is made of soft wood, it dents pretty easily, but that’s to be expected from any hinoki blade.

This blade is constructed from 7-ply hinoki wood, providing a soft feel and high dwell time.

For players seeking an ALL+ all-wood blade, this option is highly recommended. However, it’s important to note that pairing this blade with very soft rubbers may result in an overly mushy combination. Medium-hard sponges are a more suitable pairing.

The handle of this blade is notably thin compared to those from other manufacturers. Despite this, it offers a comfortable and user-friendly grip.
